We have been busy behind the scenes getting our sauna space ready and we are almost there….. just in time our Local Event this Sunday 7th June. We are loving our cosy little 4 seater sauna with incredible views across the valley coupled with a shower and a cold plunge for that dose of hot/ cold therapy. Usually reserved exclusively for our accommodation guests, we will be opening it to the public on the first Sunday of each month for our Local event so that you can book a sauna session followed by some delicious Kai in our Bistro. Big thank you to Luke at homesauna_ for helping us make this happen ❤️

Kings Birthday weekend is almost upon us. If you need a reason to visit, check out this incredible review from one of last weekends guests !

First time visit to Falls Retreat yesterday and we were delighted!
We had very little prior knowledge of the property, only seeing occasional posts on Facebook and knowing that it was somewhere near Owharoa Falls.
However, we were blown away by the whole experience
- the lovely setting among the redwood trees
- the rustic buildings
- the warm welcome and the open fire going in the restaurant
- the complimentary Prosecco to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary
- the pizzas we both ordered were as good as anything we’ve enjoyed in Italy and just about the best we’ve ever had in NZ
- and the coffee was excellent too.

Our Bistro is open on Friday, Saturday & Sunday offering our usual array of delicious food made from scratch, seasonal cocktails, amazing service and rustic vibes so come check it out for yourself ! This will be our last weekend before we close for a short Winter break!

People often wonder what we get up to mid week when the Bistro is closed and there are no events…… the answer is LOTS! Today started with a call to our local plumber to tell him we had no water, taking the glamping tent down and having an electrician arrive to sort out some extra lights for our bar area with Brad spending the whole day in the kitchen practicing his sourdough bread baking skills in preparation for his workshop next week ( sold out before we even advertised it… be sure to DM us if you want to on the wait list for the next one). The upshot of this is that the tradies got to take home some fresh bread! After 15 years here we totally understand the value of looking after them ❤️ 🥖🍞

You know it’s an incredible night sky when you can take a photo like this on an shoddy IPhone13! We are incredibly blessed to see the moon, the stars, the Milky Way so vividly and tonight’s evening landscape is spectacular. Time to escape the city for a night away and head to our neck of the woods for your own star gazing experience 🌙 ✨

Happy Mothers Day - this is a special shout out to all the mamas working in hospitality that not only dedicate their life to raising humans but manage to juggle this with being of service and helping make incredible memories for others . We had amazing day here serving a special 3 course set menu for lunch and dinner, such an incredible team effort from our crew ❤️
