I have some big news to share…
At the end of June Kapiti Platters will be closing. It hasn’t been an easy decision to make, and there are a few reasons why, but ultimately it’s time.
Kapiti Platters has meant so much more to me than just a small business. Some of you who have been here from the beginning may know that Kapiti Platters came about in 2018 after my son’s first birthday. He was a very premature babe who had a long NICU stay and complex medical issues, and I became a stay at home mum to care for him. I did my very first grazing table for his 1st birthday and thought “ I can do this for a job” and that is literally how Kapiti Platters started!
Kapiti Platters has grown over the years from a little side hustle to a full time job, and I am so proud of the business I have built. It hasn’t been without challenges, covid being the biggest hurdle that pulled the pin on some of the plans I had, and the last couple of years have been a roller coaster for sure!
I want to give the biggest thank you to everyone here - my customers, supporters, followers, cheerleaders, hype people - you’ve all make this business what it is and I’m so grateful!
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of may of your special events - weddings, birthdays, baby showers, funerals, store openings, art exhibitions, anniversaries. The late nights and early mornings have been worth it to see how much people love what I have created for them. I have a whole folder of beautiful words from happy customers that reminded me why I loved doing what I did.
Thank you to Kahli for joining me on this adventure, you were the best graze apprentice! Thanks to Colin for doing the dishes and all the deliveries on his days off, and to all my family and friends that helped along the way and I literally couldn’t have done it without you 😘
I have made some wonderful connections and friendships with like minded business owners through Kapiti Platters and I am so grateful to have had this community around me.
So where to next? Kapiti Platters will close its digital doors at the end of June and I won’t be taking any new bookings from them onwards. I have bookings up until next year and most of those will still go ahead as planned, so you may still see some posts from me now and then.
For me, I’m heading back into the classroom! Before motherhood and Kapiti Platters, I was a primary School teacher. So, from July, I’ll be back in the classroom full-time teaching some amazing tamariki! And who knows, I may do some pop ups in the school holidays 😅
