I've been enjoying fake spring 😊 Real spring starts in just one more day... but it does this every year, turns lovely and beautiful and spring-ish and then goes back to winter! When it's nice like this it's easy to forget the garden can still get frosty here until at least October. Still, it has been nice to get out in the garden in the sunshine and be able to play with some flowers again. And fake spring holds all the same promise as real spring 🌷

I’m trying a few new varieties of Sweet Pea this year (who doesn’t love a Sweet Pea?!). One is ‘Piggy Sue’ a pretty antique cream pink variety bred by Dr Keith Hammett, and named after a rescued pig - which I think makes it even more lovely.

While out with the horses yesterday I found them peering over the fence saying hello to a pig.. As I got closer I could see lots of tiny little pink piglets running around in the grass playing. So cute and the same colour as the sweet pea!

Winter always feels long at this point in the year. There is still such a long time to go before it's warm enough for the flowers to return. But the days are getting a little bit longer, and the spring bulbs are just peaking through, and each day spring gets just a tiny bit closer.

(So here's some pictures of previous years flowers, because that's much prettier than photos of frozen dirt).
