Meike's Carriage Rides We have a very safe and reliable Clydesdale, available for special events in the Waikato. We can offer a drive around Tauwhare in our gig.

We have limited services still available after selling our beautiful carriage. This is for one person only. We will also travel for special events within the Waikato area with our extremely safe and experienced Clydesdale Duke and his gig. Duke is available for ridden weddings.

I said in my last post we’d get back into the driving on a smaller scale eventually and here we are. 🙂
It’s a great privilege to have Dougal from Waiora Horse Drawn in our care at the moment, working on his fitness and aiming to do the odd show. Thank you Kate and Felicity for entrusting me with him.
Also huge thanks to Jutta for helping me getting the gig set up and balanced right. Driving is not a one person game for sure.

Today the sale of our gig marks the end of our Carriage rides. We’ve slowed down massively after the sale of our big carriage but still did the odd local drive with our gig and one or two events. With Duke ageing though and Snaoe now injured plus increasing impatience and aggression from some drivers on our road we have fully pulled the plug.
It’s been a great time, we will concentrate on riding for now and in the future, when the time is right, hope to get back into the driving on a smaller level.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

We’re putting Duke and our new sledge to good use, clearing up loose items from our paddock in preparation for the potential storm at the weekend.

Today we remember our beautiful boy Sledge, one of the kindest horses I’ve ever met, he was a work horse through and through, with the softest of hearts.

We had two beautiful drives in the last two days. I’ll have some more availabilities for rides in the gig over the holidays. PM if you’re interested. Only room for one person, perfect for some ‘me’ time. :-)

This beautiful shot popped up in my photo memories today. One of our first weddings, where we drove through Devonport to this stunning venue by the sea.
