It's funny looking back at old photos, you notice how some things have changed and some have stayed exactly the same.

Same faces, same determination and definitely the same habit of celebrating anything & everything with a glass of bubbles 🥂

Five years ago the Ōmahanui dream began with an old wedding venue that needed a little love... and a lot of hard work! It had good bones... and my very naive take on the grounds was "the gardens are all green, they'll take care of themselves" 🤦🏻‍♀️😅 sorry Ricky!

All of these photos are from the first few days after takeover. A few magic wands were waived & four months later, we hosted our first wedding.

DIY Wedding planning is brave... and can get a little unhinged.

Before you lock everything in and hope for the best, run your plans past someone who's seen hundreds of weddings play out in real life. A well executed wedding doesn't just happen by magic.

While we take a break from events at Ōmahanui for winter, I'm opening a very limited number of 'wedding sanity checks'. A 1:1 coaching session for couples who are DIYing their wedding and want a professional eye over their plans before the big day.

Will the timeline actually work? How can we spend more time with guests and less time taking family photos? How do we not blow the booze budget in the first hour? Should my aunty really be making the cake?
