Yesterday was such a beautiful evening at the Cuisine Awards ✨

I got to catch up with friends, spend time surrounded by some of the most passionate people in our industry, and celebrate the incredible talent that makes New Zealand’s food scene so special.

A massive congratulations to my dear friend and former chef, Paul Froggatt, and the team at Essence for taking home 3 Hats and Restaurant of the Year. What an incredible year for you — Michelin recognition, Cuisine awards and so much more. So deserved! 🥂👏

And congratulations to every chef, restaurant and team who was there yesterday — whether you took home an award, kept your Hats, or went home without the recognition you were hoping for.

Awards are only one moment in time. They don’t define the talent, passion, creativity or countless hours that go into what you do every single day.

To all the chefs who may have felt disappointed yesterday: please don’t doubt yourselves. Keep going, keep creating, keep feeding people and keep pushing New Zealand’s culinary scene forward. 🇳🇿❤️

We should be incredibly proud of the talent we have in this little country.

Sometimes, some emails completely change your day.
Over the past few days, I've been lucky enough to receive two of those emails.
The first was from Cuisine, inviting us to their award ceremony and letting us know that French Market will be featured in the 2026 Cuisine Good Food Guide.
Then, on Monday, another email arrived... this time telling us that we are finalists in the Stella Awards.
To be completely honest, I still can't quite believe it.
French Market started as an idea in my head—a dream that my passion for French food, pastries, cheese and hospitality could become something people would truly love. There were countless hours of planning, doubts, early mornings, late nights, and taking a leap of faith.
Just a year and a half later, to see our little shop being recognised in two of New Zealand's most respected awards feels surreal.
What an incredible journey it has been already... and I know we're only just getting started.
To every customer who has walked through our doors, trusted us with your celebrations, stopped in for a coffee, a pastry, a cheese recommendation, or simply shared kind words—thank you. None of this would be possible without your support.
And now, we need one last little favour.

Time for a little break!

After a busy year and half, we are taking a short holiday to recharge, spend precious time with our family and come back inspired with fresh ideas for French Market.

We are closing from the 9th of August until 25th. We will be back on the 26th, ready to welcome you with your favourite cheeses, charcuterie, pastries and potentially a few new surprises!

Thank you for your incredible support - it truly means the world to me.

For one day only, L’Atelier du Fromage is coming to Taupō!

What a whirlwind these past few months have been for us at French Market ✨
We celebrated our first birthday, catered some incredible events, and now… seeing our little shop featured in Kia Ora, the inflight magazine of Air New Zealand, feels truly surreal.

A huge thank you to Love Taupō for supporting us since day one and helping put small local businesses like ours in the spotlight. We’re so grateful for every customer, every order, every kind word, and everyone who has supported this adventure so far.

What an incredible way to celebrate year one.
