I know this is super late in the game, but life has definitely been hectic lately so here's how last weekend went.....

We competed at the first Cambridge Classic BBQ competition at the Hautapu Rugby club, & the comp did not disappoint....
A Hugh thank you to Charlotte, Ciaran & Melissa Murphy, & I'm sure Peter Hughes would have been involved one way shape & form.... Great comp guy💯... And those trophies were lit 🔥🔥🔥... Very nice touch👌🏾...

For this comp we also decided to have a bit of fun by running with the Hurt Locker, which the big girl did not skip a beat running like a dream all day.
It's been a great pit to work with & we're always stoked when people come around to check her out... It's a definite crowd pleaser💯
So shout out to the brothers at Carbon Metal Works💯🔥...

As for the comp results, we were pretty stoked with one of our best overall scores this year coming 10th overall out of 22 teams:

Chicken - 13th
Pork Ribs - 9th
Pork - 14th
Brisket - 10th

So definitely more work to do, but I feel we're slowly moving in the right direction..

King of the Mountain BBQ Competition 2025.... We always really enjoy coming to this competition in the Taranaki region, mainly to support someone that both Jes & I consider a good friend, Craig Leathley & the Smokn Comrades team.

We both were super happy with our cook, walking away with a 4th place in Pork Ribs, & 13th place overall.

Definitely a little bit late, but considering the circumstances I'm sure anyone would understand😁...

Smoke on the Coast 25, it brought the heavy winds, rain & the pain, but we 100% cooked our hearts out & were stoked with the outcome.

As always, firstly absolutely massive thanks to my team Jes, Tia Cloete & Owen Ritchie ... Hands down, couldn't have done it without yous💯...
Sorry to Tia & Owen who were left wondering what I actually do while at comp 😂...considering how much wondering I was doing🤦🏾‍♂️... My bad fams😉😅.

It's always one of our favorite comps on the calendar, & it definitely didn't disappoint.

SCA on the Friday
Jes walked away with a 10th placing & call out for her steak, we were so pumped with that!

And we managed to pull off a 3rd place for our team platter, which we dedicated to my mum❤️...
Mum was right into catering & feeding the people, so we definitely wanted a placing for that one, and it turned out mint.. So we were super stoked with that one.

Massive thanks to one of our major sponsors Bidfood Taupō, for providing us with majority of the 14 elements that went on to the platter.
