Join us across the Taupō rohe on Friday 25 April for Anzac Day services as we honour their legacy and service.

For Anzac Day 2025, here's everything you need to know about services and parades around the Taupō District, council opening hours, road closures and the temporary relocation of the Tongariro Street bus stop.

🌺There are several services and parades around the district for you to reflect on the sacrifices made by those in our armed forces. Everyone is invited to attend services and parades being held throughout the Taupō district on Friday 25 April 2025 as follows:

📌TAUPŌ
6am - Taupō Dawn Service – Taupō Cenotaph, Great Lake Centre
9am - Taupō Cemetery Service – Taupō Services Cemetery, Rickit Street
10.30am - Taupō Civic Service – Taupō Cenotaph, Great Lake Centre

📌 SOUTHERN LAKE TAUPŌ
6am - Tokaanu Civic Service – Tokaanu Marae, Puanga Street
10.30am - Tūrangi Cemetery Service – Tūrangi Services Cemetery, Aonini Road
11am - Tūrangi Civic Service – Tokaanu-Tūrangi and Districts RSA
5pm - Sunset Service in Kuratau – Omori Kuratau Community Hall

📌 MANGAKINO
10am - Mangakino Cemetery Service – Mangakino Services Cemetery, Lake Road.
11am - Mangakino Civic Service – Mangakino District Services and Citizens Club, Wairenga Road.

For the safety of all involved the following road closures are in place between 5.40am to 11.45am on ANZAC Day:
🚫 Story Place eastbound lane from the library carpark to Tongariro Street
🚫 Tongariro Street northbound lane from te HeuHeu Street to Horomātangi Street
🚫 Tongariro Street bus-stop temporarily relocated to Pāori Hapi Street from 5am to 11.30am.

🌺Opening hours for council facilities:
🕒 Landfill and transfer stations will open at the later time of 1pm.
🕒 AC Baths and Fitness Studio in Taupō: Open 10am to 6pm.
🕒 Turtle Pools in Tūrangi: Open 10am to 6pm.
🕒 Taupō Museum: Open 1pm to 4.30pm.
🕒 Our customer and visitor centres and libraries around the district will be closed for the day on Anzac Day.

Kerbside collections will go ahead as normal on Anzac Day, Friday 25 April. Please have your rubbish and recycling kerbside by the usual time of 7.30am.

📆 On Saturday, March 15 at 10am, the 36th Hawkes Bay Classic Motorcycle Club will be setting off on their legendary ‘Mail Run’ from Kaimanawa Street (next to Northcroft Reserve)!

⏰ Want a closer look at these beauties before they hit the road? Swing by between 8am and 10am to admire over 40 vintage and classic motorbikes — polished, powerful, and ready for action!
