Unique country style setting suitable for weddings and other functions. This traditional style barn was renovated for our own wedding in March 2012.

We loved the setting so much we felt the need to share it with others! Set high up on our farm in a private location surrounded by native tree's, birdlife, and farm animals with supreme views overlooking all of Lake and Mount Tarawera. The barn itself can seat up to 150 guests, while outside features include landscaped native gardens, a fire pit, large deck and extensive outdoor lighting revealing

the beautiful bush setting by night. Use of this facility is by invite only, so please feel free to contact us, Glenn & Shelley Barbour, for further details.

When the light goes and the lake turns to ink, the fire is already lit.

We set this for you near the end of your reception, giving somewhere warm to land when the speeches are done and the music softens.

Guests drift toward it in twos and threes. We love the sounds of conversation, laughter & drinks clinking from this part of the venue.

This is the part no one plans for and everyone remembers. Faces lit gold, voices quiet, the whole long day settling into something you’ll want to continue long into the evening.

The lake is already there, the mountain already waiting. Tarawera has been holding this view longer than any of us can count - far before our first wedding took place on this property.

The little details like the floral placement and straightening of the chairs are the quiet part of what we do - just as important, nonetheless - these details are what makes every event so special and so unique to YOU and your day. But what makes The Black Barn so special is the land surrounding us just keeps doing what it's always done - every day, every wedding, every event you can ALWAYS rely on spectacular views and nature doing it's thing.
