It's been a few years since we've done this but our Halloween characters are back .. and this year they come with a variety of Japanese tasty daifuku (a sweet gluten free and dairy free soy milk treat) .. They will be available Friday October 25th, Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st ... On the school menu ready to be ordered now but stock numbers are very limited so get onto the ezlunch.co.nz menu and get them ordered

Something new to look forward to on the ezlunch.co.nz school menu from next term ... a delicious soft Japanese dessert item "Cream Daifuku" .. Initially we will have 2 flavours, Mango and Macha and then add Strawberry and Yuzu ... These will be available for purchase as part of a mini set lunch set

Went down to one of our local beaches yesterday and collected dried seaweed for the garden. Before spreading it over the garden I was washing the salt off it in our driveway when my neighbour over the road asked what I was doing. When I told him I was washing the seaweed I’d colllected, he was impressed that we make our own fresh sushi nori sheets

The sushi is still going to taste the same but it’s better .. we’ve been trialing new containers over the past 2 weeks that are easier to open with a clip on lid. They can be resealed if the kids don’t eat all their lunch. Feedback has been all positive so from today they are in full use for school lunches

Well that brings an end to the year for us today .. 25,000 school lunches filling those little satisfied tummies. We are now closed until school goes back in February.

With the school year coming to a close at the end of next week and us being closed for the holidays, it's time to get those orders in for next week to avoid disappointment ... With everything made to order, we have a pretty much 100% zero waste system in place. So we will be reducing stock of items over the coming week .. AND thanks so much everyone for helping make this another successful business year

Another piece of bright news that came out of last Friday’s bomb threat chaos .. One of my favorite TV ads of all time is last years SkyTV one where a dad is changing a toddler’s nappy on a beach and the toddler bolts with everyone trying to tackle him ... remember that? Anyway one order slipped through the ezlunch.co.nz system for some reason, that wasn’t cancelled , and as it turned out it was our special birthday Pikachu pack .. I called the mum as she lived in Manly, and said I could drop it off on the way home. This kids name is Charlie and when I got to the door, Charlie was standing there cutely cuddling his toy pikachu waiting for his birthday lunch. He was wrapped ... not as wrapped as me when his Gulf Harbour teacher told me he was the kid in that tv ad ... I delivered to a tv star !!!!

As the owner of a small business, today was one of those days I wouldn't want to see again ... Fridays are always our busiest day of the week, and after starting work at 4am it's always rewarding when the day and week is done ... HOWEVER today was a bit different ... Just after 8am and with already 150 lunches in, messages started coming through that almost all our schools suddenly had to close due to a bomb threat .. What to do with all these lunches already made? Briefly thought about having a 'Black Friday Sale" but then chose the easiest option ... Boxed up all the lunches and dropped them off for the teachers & staff who were still at the schools waiting for parents to collect their kids ... so although not financially rewarding, today was rewarding in a different way
