Getting married in Aotearoa New Zealand means getting married (pretty much) wherever you like!

So long as you can accurately describe your location, are within New Zealand territorial boundaries, and have permission to be there, then you can get married there too!

That means your hare-brained idea of hiking seven hours to a remote lake to get hitched (which is exactly what Luana & Bernardo chose to do) is definitely not out of the question - you’ve just got to find the right people to make it happen i.e. ME ✋

I’ll admit, I post a lot of helicopter elopements and big lavish weddings (which are always amazing!) But I’m equally up for donning my hiking boots and taking to the mountains for a different kind of adventure!

Brittany & Edward’s moody Moke Lake micro-wedding (alliteration much?)

This was a perfect example of bringing together a small group of people who brought SO much love and enthusiasm, striking the perfect balance for these two who didn’t want to stand in front of a crowd of people but still wanted to share their day with some of those they love the most.

The result? A relaxed, joyful, laughter-filled afternoon amongst the mountains, and a wedding day where Edward and Brittany could be 100% themselves!

I do love a big wedding, but don’t you also just love how elopements/micro weddings open up so many opportunities on your big day? From quiet moments alone under the clematis at Trelawn to soaking up the sun lakeside in downtown Queenstown, you can see that these two just had so much fun together!

Rawinia & Ryan knew they wanted to be married in nature first and foremost 🌿 Somewhere that connected them together, and where they would both feel the happiest.

From there they eventually chose to have their ceremony surrounded by mountains (at the foot of Pikirakatahi/Mt Earnslaw to be exact!) Loving the irony that on this - one of the most important days of their lives - they were really just insignificant beings when set against the backdrop and majesty of Mother Nature!

These two had such a beautiful attitude to what their day was all about, and I’m sure you can all agree that this little whanau of theirs look far from insignificant in these stunning pictures from their planner/photo extraordinaries

More than that, it should be a genuine celebration of you… Regardless of whether you want your ceremony to be ‘short and sweet’ or ‘the full shebang’, I’m here to make sure that every word is an accurate representation of your relationship, your love, and what your marriage means to you.

Now is as good a time as ever to remind people what you stand for, and as a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m here to create a safe, inclusive space where your love is celebrated.

Beyond being a celebrant, I’m a father, husband, son, brother, friend, and voice in our community (albeit a little one) and I intend to spread kindness and respect in everything that I do 🤍

In short, you are safe here (so long as you don’t start coming for the well-fought rights of others, or stand in the way of making this world a better, safer, more inclusive place. If that’s you, then we need to have words…)
