When you picture getting married in Queenstown, chances are you’re picturing somewhere outdoors.

But you don’t have to.

A chapel ceremony gives you something completely different… a defined aisle, everyone gathered together in one intimate space, and none of your guests checking the clouds every four minutes.

You can still head out afterwards for those big Queenstown landscapes, but the ceremony itself gets to feel a little more traditional.

We sometimes see couples worry that there won’t be “enough” happening at their reception.

Enough entertainment. Enough activities. Enough surprises.

Most weddings don’t need more things added to them. They need enough space for the good things already happening.

A ch*****ne tower might become the big moment after the ceremony. Later there might be speeches and dancing. In between, people eat, drink, wander around, talk to someone they haven’t seen for years and actually enjoy being at the wedding.

That counts too.

Private villa weddings give you a different kind of celebration. One long table filled with your favourite people. An in-house caterer preparing dinner. W**e being poured, speeches happening from wherever someone happens to be sitting, and nobody being ushered out because the venue is closing.

Basically, all the good bits of having everyone over to your house for dinner… without spending the afternoon chopping onions and panic-cleaning the bathroom.

Add Queenstown mountains outside the windows and a professional team taking care of everything happening inside them, and you’ve got a pretty good way to spend a wedding day.

Then... when you’ve finally had enough ch*****ne, you can simply go down the hall to bed.

PSA: You can have a Queenstown wedding package and still invite your friends. Quite a lot of them, actually.

Wedding packages are often associated with elopements, but ours don’t stop at two people. Alongside our elopement options, we have Intimate Wedding Packages for up to 25 people and Small Wedding Packages for weddings of 25 to 60 guests.

And these are proper weddings. Ceremony, guests, reception, food, drinks, flowers, photography and all the celebrating that comes with having your favourite people in Queenstown with you.

Depending on the package, you could get married at a chapel, on a rooftop, at Walter Peak, Millbrook Resort, NZ High Country, a private estate or another carefully chosen Queenstown setting. There are also custom options if none of the existing packages quite fit what you have in mind.

The point of choosing a package isn’t to give you a cookie-cutter wedding. It gives you a starting point, with many of the big pieces already brought together by people who know the venues, suppliers and logistics involved.

Which can be particularly useful when you’re sitting in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland or halfway around the world trying to work out how on earth you organise a wedding in Queenstown.

There’s a lot more to Arthur’s Point than a very good spot to get married.

In 1862, gold was discovered here on the banks of the Shotover River. What followed was the largest gold rush Otago had seen, with miners arriving in their hundreds hoping to make their fortune.

More than 160 years later, the river is still at the centre of life here… although these days, we’re much more likely to be standing beside it with a bouquet than a gold pan.

We love that about getting married in Queenstown. You’re rarely choosing somewhere just because it photographs beautifully. There are stories in these places that go back long before any of us arrived.

When you picture eloping in Queenstown, what does it actually look like?

Are you standing beside the lake with your feet firmly on the ground?

Taking a helicopter somewhere you couldn’t otherwise reach?

Getting married in a little chapel, surrounded by a garden, or somewhere overlooking the river?

Maybe you want the ceremony to be the simple part, then spend the rest of the day exploring, eating exceptionally well and making a proper occasion of being in Queenstown.

We plan elopements for two in all sorts of ways, and there really isn’t one version you need to follow.

Walking into your ceremony together is absolutely an option.

For some couples it feels more natural. For others, it reflects how they see marriage itself. And some simply like the idea of experiencing that first walk into the ceremony side by side.

The traditional entrance can be incredibly meaningful when it means something to you.

But tradition is an option, not an instruction manual. You do you!

Don’t make remembering them part of the challenge.

Write them down.

Wedding-day nerves do funny things to perfectly capable brains, and there’s absolutely no prize for delivering your vows from memory.

The important part isn’t remembering every sentence exactly as you wrote it.

It’s being present enough to mean it when you say it. 🤍

Do you have to pay the full guest price for children at your wedding?

With our wedding packages, no.

There’s no charge for children under two who don’t need a children’s meal. For older children, pricing depends on their age and comes in below the adult cost.

So if your guest list includes nieces, nephews, your own little ones or a small army of flower girls, tell us their ages when we’re putting your quote together.

We’ll make sure you’re quoted accordingly. ♡
