A fantastic Matariki celebration is happening later this morning at the West Coast Gallery- head along to the opening of the art of the students of Lone Kauri School, and sample one of Sam Beere's famous pizzas from 11am -12.30pm today Saturday 5th July.

Wow- what a fantastic time we had! A massive thanks to everyone who ran an event, helped out, and also to everyone who came out and celebrated with us at the 2025 Piha Matariki Festival.

New event for the schedule!

Gemma Celeste Singer has been described as having the “Voice of an angel with the power of a Lion.” She is a World Class Singer and Entertainer with over 20yrs experience, performing and entrancing audiences locally and internationally. Joining Gemma is her singing partner Tawhia for 2hrs of chilled classic tunes in English and Maori to celebrate Matariki. This couple reside in Karekare and Tawhia is a direct bloodline descendant of Te Kawerau A Maki so celebrating Matariki is extra special to them.

Catch them at the Piha RSA from 5pm - 7pm on Saturday the 29th of June.

Tipuanuku hangi - Potatoes, kumara, watercress, pumpkin, cabbage, stuffing +steam pudding and custard

Tipuarangi hangi - 2 x meat, kumara, watercress, pumpkin, cabbage, stuffing +steam pudding and custard

The meals are $30 each and available for pick up from 12pm on Saturday the 29th of June from the Te wahi Ora women's retreat.
