Super pleased with my new bulk compost making method. Thanks to a generous gift of a tractor from my retiring farmer dad!
Everything goes in - all old crops, all leaves stripped off flower stems while harvesting, kitchen scraps, horse, cow and chicken manure, mulched leaves, and coffee grinds from local cafes.
I drop off all old crops next to the compost pile. Then use the tractor mulcher to cut into small pieces, mix it all into the pile with the tractor bucket, and cover with a tarp.
This pile has just been added to my flower beds while prepping for autumn planting.

Flower bouquets can be pre-ordered most days and will be left ready for collection, inside the stall parked behind our gate on Walters Road, Karaka.

The stall is no longer put out on the roadside.

*A flower sales update...*
I am changing how I sell my flowers, which means my stall will no longer appear on the roadside. Thefts and “forgetful payments” have taken their toll after seven years!

You can now collect posies, bouquets or bloom buckets in three ways:

- Pre-ordered requests via Facebook or Instagram message - I will leave them ready for collection from the stall parked behind our white post-and-rail fence.

- On select days I will fill the stall and add stories on Facebook and Instagram to keep you up to date with what’s available.

- Order bloom buckets for special occasions which you can arrange later.

I currently have sweet peas, campanula, sweet William, forget-me-nots, strawflowers, statice, snapdragons, Granny’s bonnets and corncockle available. In summer, there will also be dahlias, zinnias, celosia and cosmos.

Please get in touch if you would like an arrangement.

Lovely spring flowers are underway. I grow all my own flowers and have a roadside stall out on sunny days in Walters Road, Karaka, with flower posies ($20), farm fresh eggs, and herbs and fruit. Payment is cash into the honesty box or internet banking.

I can make posies and larger flower bouquets by request, most days. These can be left ready for collection from the stall parked inside our gate.

The flower mix changes through the seasons, main ones now are ranunculus, anemones, tulips, freesias, snapdragons, poppies, forget me nots, Dutch Iris, statice and strawflowers.
