A small historic town hall in a place that’s special to the family. ‘That’s where we’ll have our ceremony AND reception,’ they said. I checked it en route from a wedding in the far north months prior. It’s perfect! OMG looking back on this one…2017, one of my FAVE ceremonies. Noel and Melanie met in kindy, five years old, when he threw stones at her (he liked her). They both moved to Aus and a friend pointed out that he was on Facebook (thanks again Facebook).
They connected. He no longer wanted to throw stones AT her but he threw one ON her…her finger. Their wedding was a NZ high school reunion at Mahinepua Bay, Northland NZ. Sooo cool.

The first time I heard this word I thought 'Who would do that? Why would anyone want to write for someone else?' Of course it's a done thing, but who knew it could be such a fun thing?

Enter Love Letter Express, my letter writing service for love. By that I mean all kinds of love from romantic to love-what-you-do appreciation type love. However, wedding day love letters are my specialty and they featured in nearly every ceremony I did this summer. In fact they were a highlight, with laughter and tears, smiles and winks, as I read them, on behalf of each partner, at the ceremony.

bonus: this letter for Holly was written at a Kerikeri garden cafe.

How do you get over pre ceremony NERVES !?

Well, when you have decades of experience public speaking, you’re fine. But if you don’t like the limelight or feel comfortable in it, remember this magic trick: CONNECT. Out there in the audience you see your friends, family, perhaps vendors you’ve gotten to know through the planning stages all beaming love at you. It’s pure happiness and emotion. Connect with your heart. Settle your mind.

Those precious minutes while we wait for the groomsmen to come in, I find someone to connect with, get to know a little. In this case it was at a beautiful backyard ceremony in Opito Bay, Kerikeri. Thanks to Briar & Shay for sharing this one by .pictures 🌹🍾 🥂

It’s a wrap. My busiest wedding and events season finished up with this exquisite elopement at . Yeow! What a spot for romance!

Love the casual, relaxed nature of elopements and we all had jobs…who’s turned on the video? Who’s on music? Where’s catering? Oh it’s us.

So, photographer. I always offer to take a few pics but in this instance I couldn’t stop - the location, the couple, the happiness made it so easy. And no pro camera, just my trusty iPhone. So happy with the results.

When an elopement planned for the beach is foiled by rain you pop along to ! Thank you for hosting us Monday morning 😉.

Michael and Jeanie’s ceremony puts them on the top FIVE list of couples I’ve married who have known each other the longest (unrequited love or maybe Cupid 💘 kept missing his mark?). Met at 16 and 19; madly in love and married 56 years later. Wahoo! Never discount the boy you knew in high school….

What a wonderful time emceeing for the Rotary District 9910 conference at The Copthorne Waitangi. Caught up with my favourite Canadian at , learned a lot from Pat Sneddon’s presentation and boogied with my buddy Saturday night.
