And as the year draws to a close so does Soul Kitchen... a final cheers to you all! 🥳😍
It has been an honour and a pleasure to serve all y'all. Thanks to all who have supported us throughout the years - we have truly enjoyed cooking amazing food and feeding ya!

But mostly, a special shout-out to anyone who has been a part of the crew - each and every one of you have a place in my heart. I have loved working alongside you all and hearing your stories. It has been a privilege and I have tried to serve you well also. Love you, team ###

So many memories and laughs! So many hams!

WHOOPS! Sunday afternoon already and I haven't posted this Tuesdays Trust the Chef....busy weekend filled with catering jobs ###

So - I was wondering, and pondering, wanting to bring something delicious and seasonal. Finally settled on;

Marsala Chicken (Chicken breast, seared, and finished with a lightly creamy mushroom and marsala sauce. Marsala is a fortified wine from Italy)
Spring Greens Orzo - orzo pasta, served simply with baby peas, asparagus, wilted baby spinach, cherry tomatoes. Lightly lemoned and fresh herbed.
Focaccia - housemade by Xanthe - honestly delicious fresh bread to mop up the sauce from the chicken

And dessert?? Vanilla Bean Panacotta seemed to go with the theme!

This Tuesday we're coming back home with
Roast Lamb with all the vege trimmings - potatoes, kumara, pumpkin and of course baby peas for the green. With gravy and mint sauce on the side
Dessert has to be a chocolate mousse, made with Whittaker's Milk Chocolate
Love a classic Kiwiana delicacy!

Yes, you've heard the rumours and they're true...after 13 years Soul Kitchen is closing their doors 🤯😟
But here's what you need to know...
➡️This was not what we had expected or hoped for - we have an amazing crew who deserve well paid and satisfying work. We live in a small community that we are gutted we won't be able to sponsor and support events and community groups like we love to do.
➡️We're still open until the 20th Dec 🥳 (Stock up while you can! - Orders for freezer meals happily taken 😉)
➡️We're still totally committed to putting out great food until the 20th Dec, if you have a booking we will absolutely do our very best, just as if we were still going to be in business next year - one of our key values is finishing well 🩷

And a wee question for David Seymour......do ya reckon Compass will be putting out fresh school lunches like this?? 🤔

Last Tuesday we visited Greece...this Tuesday we're hitting Texas...you may remember our Texas Beef Burgers that we used to do at the Event Centre and Waiiti Cafe, well they're back for one night only!
A build-your-own boiga box with soft buns, lettuce, pickles and classic burger cheese piled high with our super-tender-cooked-for-6 hours smokey beef brisket.
We don't have a fryer to do onion rings and fries so I reckon some mini corn fritters and a tangy slaw would be amazing as the sides.
Winner winner - Texas Beef Dinner...

And what's more 'Merican for dessert than Pumpkin Pie?? With vanilla mascarpone on the side.

This week for Trust the Chef Tuesday, we're going to Greece! Well, our tastebuds are...inspired by the warming weather we're making:
Lamb Koftas and Housemade Flatbreads, for you to build-your-own with lettuce and Ztatziki
and on the side enjoy Falafel with Tahini dressing and Greek Salad
For dessert we're making a Pistachio Creme Cheesecake
It's going to be delicious!!
