Through community mobilisation, and education, we uphold our role as kaitiaki protecting our moana for future generations

This gathering help us protect our coastline, share updates, and make decisions together as a community. Everyone connected to the area is welcome: local residents, divers, fishers, whānau, hapū and supporters. Let’s work together for the wellbeing of our moana.

Wānanga 4 – Rohe, Rāhui and Collective Alignment
- Alignment between the rāhui, Rohe Moana and Mātaitai
- Managing boundaries and overlapping interests
- Maintaining hapū mana within collective structures
- Ensuring clarity for whānau and the wider public
- Exploring how collective arrangements can support rangatiratanga and effective governance

Hapū confidence that collective arrangements uphold rangatiratanga, while supporting alignment across the rohe and providing greater clarity for whānau and the wider community.

A beautiful kai / dinner here for you. Moemoeā about to start, followed by Johnny Wright & Tihikura Hohaia, then legendary roots reggae band from Whanganui, 'Roots Provider' and
Dj tobetones keeping it all flowing and uplifting.

Sliding scale, $20 to $30, or pay what you can to support the kaupapa to protect our moana from seabed mining.

We look forward to welcoming people this afternoon (2.30pm to 4.30 / 5pm) and evening (6 - late), to Ōpunakē Town Hall, 38 Dormett Street.

Local diver & storyteller Rebecca Pratt is joining us and we'll be screening one (or two) of her awesome short films.

Then the stunning & inspiring 'Ocean with David Attenborough'

Bring your extra comfy, and snacks, and even your own camping chairs, etc if you'd like more cushy seating.

We've committed crew coming to join us from Gizzy/Tairāwhiti, Pōneke/Wellington, Whakatane, Manawatu, Whanganui, Whaitara, Ngāmotu/New Plymouth, Ōākura, Patea, Te Hāwera, Inglewood/Kohanga Moa, Parihaka, Ōpunakē (of course), where are you joining us from?

Support the kaupapa, musicians & organising crew by coming along and getting your tickets in advance & spreading the word.
