The past couple of months have been spent quietly working away, refreshing the shop, tending the gardens and making a few changes around this special little place.

🌿THE FLORAL SHED JOURNEY 🌿

I’ve always believed that if you’re going to do something, do it properly.

Before The Floral Shed, my career was in corporate leadership and business. Those years taught me resilience, organisation and the confidence to solve problems, but throughout it all I’d always been passionate about gardens, flowers and creating beautiful spaces.

Six years ago I chose a different path.

I could see the potential in this property—not for what it was then, but for what it could become.

Today The Floral Shed is a working foliage grower, florist, creative workshop space and botanical destination. Every part of it has been shaped with purpose, from the gardens and commercial foliage to the workshop experiences and the welcome visitors receive when they arrive.

For me, success isn’t about being the biggest. It’s about creating something genuine. A place where people feel inspired, where nature is celebrated, and where creativity is shared.

The Floral Shed isn’t just where I work.

It’s a reflection of everything I’ve learnt, everything I’ve built, and everything I still believe is possible.

There’s something special about spending a few hours surrounded by flowers, slowing down, creating with your hands, and leaving with something beautiful you’ve made yourself.

Join me at The Floral Shed for a relaxed Saturday morning where I’ll guide you step by step as you create two beautiful fresh flower bouquets to take home. Whether you’ve arranged flowers before or this is your first time, everyone is welcome.

A Quiet Sunday… 🌿

Today I painted the last cupboard.

It might not sound like much, but for me it marked the end of something much bigger.

There came a quiet Sunday when I finished the last little piece, gathered foliage ready for another week, and stood still long enough to realise there was nothing left to reclaim.

Over the years, The Floral Shed has been created one step at a time.

One tree planted.
One path laid.
One room restored.
One flower picked.
One workshop imagined.
One conversation shared.

Every season has taught me patience.

Nature has an incredible way of reminding us that nothing needs to be rushed. When we care for something with time, love and respect, it slowly becomes everything it was always meant to be.

Today I looked around and realised something that brought tears to my eyes.

The Floral Shed is no longer something I’m rebuilding.

It’s home.

Every corner now tells a story of hope, perseverance, creativity and love. It reflects who I am, how I love to welcome people, and the peace I hope every visitor feels when they walk through the gates.

There will always be another flower to plant, another display to change, another season to enjoy.

But those things are no longer about fixing.

They are simply the joy of creating.

If you visit The Floral Shed, my hope is that you won’t just see flowers or gardens.

I hope you’ll feel a little more peaceful than when you arrived.

Thank you to every customer, friend, florist, workshop guest, supporter and visitor who has been part of this journey. Your encouragement has helped shape this beautiful place more than you’ll ever know.

Today isn’t the end.

It’s simply the beginning of a new chapter.

One where I can simply enjoy creating, sharing and welcoming people into a place that finally feels complete.

Some places aren’t meant to be hurried.

They are meant to be wandered.

The old stone seat has quietly watched the seasons come and go. It doesn’t ask for attention, yet so many people find themselves stopping here.

Perhaps it’s the winter light.
Perhaps it’s the stillness.
Or perhaps it’s simply permission to slow down for a while.

That has always been my hope for The Floral Shed.

Not just a garden to visit, but a place where beauty reminds us to pause… and notice.

I’ll be at Ngahinapouri Hall/School this afternoon with a beautiful selection of fresh bouquets, ready to brighten your home or surprise someone special.

Whatever the winter weather brings, you’ll find me there from 3.00 pm.

As winter settles in, we’re taking a seasonal break from our Open Days during June and July.
We’ll be back in August, with our Open Day returning on the fourth Saturday of the month.
In the meantime, bouquets and workshops are still available!
Stay warm, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
