UPDATE: An update from our little start up bbq business… Well The Flying Pig Barbecue gained 625 new followers on facebook, we created 40 posts and received 333 reactions. We have donated Kai to many, helping our homeless across Taranaki… Tangi’s where heaps of whanau have shown up, we’ve filled their belly’s and we will continue to do so. We have donated to charities and we have worked ourselves around the clock delivering for you all.
Our next 30 days and Christmas, weddings and birthday catering celebrations, have smashed our quarterly forecast through the roof. We started this business up on the back of an idea, when some mates and I were watching a rugby match in my garage at home. (Whilst bbq’ing…) We were asked to cater for a wedding at the very last minute, and then we listened to our community… Waitara locals wanted more than fish n chips and Chinese as a weekly takeaway. (FYI, FnC’s and Chinese are my favourite takeaways. I had it tonight… just saying 😂 ) shout out to Queen street takeaways also 💪🏾… so we came up with a menu, made it cater to all budgets, we rolled our sleeves up and we went about creating a service and a taste that was different to other bbq companies.
So, we have delivered a few weddings now, we have sold out 10 community BBQs at the epic Finders Keepers - Taranaki in a row and the rest is all history. This month we have 5,000 mouths to feed at events all around Taranaki…
We are fortunate to have all of you to thank for all of your continued support. We definitely could not have done any of this without you and our amazing followers. 🙏🤗🎉 Our catering menu has been out for some time now, I’ve attached it… just in case you'd like to hand it on to friends or whanau or within your organisation. 😉
In saying this, many get us to quote, we try our hardest to be competitive, we are constantly riding our suppliers for the best affordable prices… with meat and dairy prices up by almost 60%… it is hard to balance the expectations of some clients. What we use to deem tough cuts and feed to pets, these were often considered poor man's cuts, like brisket, lamb and beef cheeks, now fetch top dollar in the modern smoked meat market. We will continue to battle to keep our prices down and pass on those savings to you all.
Nga mihi and thank you to you all. ❤️
FACT: The name The flying pig bbq came from my mother… when I said I was going to do this with very or no budget whatsoever… Mum's response… yeah, when pigs fly… Right there, the Flying Pig BBQ was born. 🩷❤️🩷❤️🐖🐖🐖
