How to Maintain Your Septic Tank
1. Regular Pumping of waste - Have your septic tank pumped every 3-5 years, depending on the size and number of people in the house.

2. Reduce Water Usage—Excess water can overload your septic tank. Fix leaks and spread out laundry and dishwasher loads over the week.

3. Proper Waste Disposal—Avoid flushing non-biodegradable items like wipes, feminine hygiene products, and anything other than septic-safe toilet paper.

4. Maintain the Drain Field—don't drive or park vehicles over it. Avoid planting trees or shrubs nearby. Make sure rainwater and other surface runoff are directed away from it.

5. Regular Inspection—Have a professional inspect your septic system annually for leaks, blockages, or other issues.

6. Avoid Overloading the system—Spread out laundry and dishwashing throughout the week rather than doing multiple loads in one day.
