Old St John's

Old St John's A wonderful historic venue perfect for fun, frolics and fantastic music. It also makes a great venue for presentations, lectures, weddings or even funerals.

Old St John's is a former Methodist Church in the centre of Nelson and an original Sunday School hall. The hall has a number of tenants and casual users offering everything from beauty therapy to Tai Chi and Tango. The Church, which seats 400, has wonderful acoustics and is available for use as a music venue. In fact pretty much anything that people want to use it for.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME! 🙌

Old St John's Hall is an important venue for a lot of community groups and has held some iconic events over the years. Under the new Protection Framework at the Orange setting, we are happy to welcome everyone and will operate as below:

AT ORANGE SETTING:

If Vaccination Passports in place for your hire/event:
🟠There is no limit on capacity for gatherings - eg. You can have up to 100 attendees at your event, as this is the capacity of the Hall.
🟠Face coverings are encouraged.
🟠You must view all vaccine passports of your guests on entry, verification is encouraged.

If Vaccination Passports are not used for your hire/event:
🟠There is a limit on capacity for gathering of up to 50 people.
🟠Face coverings are encouraged.

Everyone visiting the venue will need to scan in using the QR Code. Whilst it is a tricky situation to navigate, we are here to help and will assist where we can to help everyone understand how hire's will work under the new Protection Framework.

When we move to GREEN (fingers crossed this is soon!), then we will update as needed.

If you need to find a new venue or are looking to host a gathering - get in touch with Kara on [email protected].

Its that time again.. Christmas Work Doo season!

The Hall at Old St John's is one of Nelson's iconic spaces that can be transformed with a little bit of imagination and lighting.

Got It Covered worked their magic for this masquerade themed event!

The venue is equipped with wooden floors, staging and P/A, and an onsite kitchen with no restrictions around Food & Beverage. There's also some tables and chairs available.

The best part? It's centrally located, so you can carry the party on into town afterwards!
