At Lily Maude we often incorporate pieces with social and dressmaking history. The silver bow on this headband is Vamberk Lace, which has been made for hundreds of years in Vamberk, a town in the Czech Republic, where it was very fashionable, by skilled lacemakers.
During the years of Socialism it was forbidden to work from home and the lacemakers worked in a Socialist cooperative, but smuggled out materials and patterns in their bras and continued to do so to earn extra money.This bow was made by these lovely ladies, who never had a chance to “Dress up and be Gorgeous “
