Hello! Here’s a very semi-annual introduction of me, myself and I for new followers…and a big bonjour to all the lovely people who already follow my work or have been my past subjects.
I much prefer being behind the camera instead of in front of it so this is hard for me!
Fun fact: at an event (especially a wedding) I’m a massive extrovert and love working with big groups and being social. But behind the scenes in real life I’m actually quite introverted and a bit of a hermit! I love walking my dog ( )
reading, getting into nature and hanging out at home at the beach with my little family.
I’ve been a full-time professional photographer for 21 years and gave up counting my weddings a few years back at around 800. I’ve shot loads of media, news, portrait and commercial work but this year I’m mostly just doing weddings and website design (via my other small business, .digital ) so I have some time for some creative projects I’ve wanted to work on for ages (more on that later this year, I hope!).
I feel like I can describe my style in three ways; candid, classic and centred around making people the heart of beautiful landscapes - mostly in Hawke’s Bay, where I’ve lived most of my life.
I’m usually having as much fun as you at your wedding and even though I’ve lost count of the number of weddings I’ve shot, I still pinch myself at every one I go to because I just love what I do SO MUCH and I get a massive dopamine hit out of seeing people so happy and being creative on their behalf.
If you’re one of my past couples (or families or business people I’ve shot) I’d love it if you wrote in the comments what you enjoyed most about working with me (or just a good memory!) because a picture says a thousand words but when you’re deciding to trust a photographer with documenting something as important as your wedding, it’s reassuring to hear good things from other people!
