A few moments with Emma before the BIG moment. It’s lovely to be back into wedding season again and filling my creative cup. A little more of this wedding coming along soon.

When two and a half people get married, good things happen. Read about how Matt and Kirsty revealed their baby news to their friends and family over on the blog. Link below.

You can also see more of the most delicious photos from their wedding in the heart of Hawke’s Bay’s TukiTuki Valley at The River Room.

Yup, it’s been six months since this groovy day at the Mecca of all chill weddings, Hygge at Clifton Bay. My social skills suck.

But I tell ya what is also true…I love these photos twice as much as when I shot them. That’s what time does to special memories. I went to pick a few for a post and ended up with a whole damned blog…complete with a cool commentary by the groom, Ben Van Berkel - I really love it when it’s the groom I do my planning and comms with. They see a wedding differently.

I also really loved how Ben and Nat tossed out all the traditions that didn’t work for them but went hard with the ones that did. Check out the blog to see and read more if a relaxed wedding day is something you dream of:

I feel like I want to start every social post with 'this was my favourite wedding of the season because ###' but honestly, every one feel this way to me, but always for a different reason. Want to know why?

Yes, the format of a wedding is roughly the same all the time (and after shooting 800+ I say this with some authority 🤣) but the people are NEVER the same and working out fast who they are, and who I need to be to capture their spirit and energy makes what I do endlessly awesome and challenging.

I could easily have made an assumption about Dean and Lauren. They chose one of NZs most beautiful and exclusive hunting lodges for their wedding (Poronui near Taupo), we were buzzing all over the place in helicopters and all the elements of the day were extraordinary and considered.

But these two, together 16 years and hard working dairy farmers, were as down-to-earth, relaxed and 'Kiwi' as it's possible to be. 0% pretentious, 100% in it for the good times, and to give those they loved the most epic day they could imagine.

Within about 10 seconds I felt like one of the family and when I left after a really long day and drove back to Hawke's Bay, I felt genuinely gutted to leave them all behind.

Being real and being beautiful can definitely be the same thing at the same time. See more of what I mean here:

Some winter creativity just for fun…and to showcase the amazing talent inside NZ’s hottest wedding destination, Hawke’s Bay. These are a few of our ideas for the season ahead. Lots of deep chocolate browns and inky dark greens paired with lighter touches and soft, creamy, romantic hues. More from Part II of this styled shoot coming next week. 💕
