Big day : BIG plans? 👀

One of the questions I get asked a lot is “what size marquee do we need?”

While guest numbers are obviously a big part of the equation, capacity for 110 people doesn’t always equal capacity for 110 people PLUS everything else you’d like to include.

These three floorplans all seat 100 people for dinner plus a head table of 10… but as the marquee gets bigger, so does what else you can comfortably include.

So yes, a smaller marquee CAN seat 100… but if you’re dreaming of a big dance floor, a 6-piece band, generous bar, lounges and all the styling frills, it’s worth thinking beyond “how many people can it fit?”

That’s where a floorplan is SO useful - seeing everything in the space before you commit to your marquee size can save a whole lot of squeezing, shuffling and “oh s**t… where are we going to put that?”

The journey from “2am brainchild” → actual THING 🤌✨

This braid detail was one of those “wait… what if we did this?” moments that popped into my brain in the middle of the night (as most great ideas seem to 😂)

Cue a slightly panicked call to the incredible team at TBLE the next morning… and after a little experimenting, a lot of twisting, and some creative teamwork later, this beauty was born.

The best design moments are often the ones that start with “hear me out…” 🤍

Still pinching myself over this one!

Last month I had the absolute pleasure of styling the 2026 Cranford Hospice Cocktail Party - a beautiful evening bringing people together to raise funds towards the development of their new facilities in Hawke’s Bay.

The brief? A space that felt elevated, welcoming, and worthy of the occasion… with just the right amount of sparkle ✨

This year was extra special, with some pretty incredible milestones being celebrated; 50years of the Hastings Karamu Rotary Club, 10years of Advanced Plumbing, and 35years of The Cocktail Party itself. Definitely an excuse to add a little extra glitz and glam!

Such a special event to be part of, and a beautiful reminder of the impact that can be created when people come together for something bigger than themselves 🧡

Distance is no barrier to thoughtful, personalised design🤍

This lovely review came from one of my Australian couples, and it’s a good reminder that we don’t need to be in the same city (or even the same country!) to work together.

Double trouble? Don’t mind if I do…

Multiple marquees aren’t just practical - they’re a clever design tool.

Creating separate zones / having more than one marquee allows for more than one experience…. Create dedicated spaces for dining, dancing, drinks, or simply taking a moment away from the action.

A little more intention, a little more flow, and a place for everything!

Serpentine tables are having a serious moment right now… and it’s easy to see why!

Playful, versatile, and full of personality - they’re a beautiful way to move beyond traditional straight rows of tables and introduce more movement, flow, and creativity into your floorplan.

These are all different layout options for the same wedding, with the same guest numbers, designed around the brief of “organic”… and there are plenty more possibilities where these came from!

Curves can completely transform the way a space feels, but knowing where to start (and how to make them work practically) can often be the tricky part.

“Style” plans = a win for couples and vendors alike!

For this wedding, I wasn’t there on the day- but my detailed styling guide and setup instructions were.

The venue team at Terrace View brought the vision to life for H&J exactly as planned, creating a seamless experience for the couple while ensuring every detail was styled just as intended.
