A big thank you to E Solar for their quick and efficient work in installing our new solar panels while keeping disruption to our centre to a minimum.
This project is a Tasman District Council initiative, and we're delighted to see these solar panels installed as another step towards making our centre more sustainable and self-sufficient for our community.
All we need now is some sunshine ☀

What do the Commonwealth Games, paper bags, ping pong balls, ice cream lids and plenty of laughter have in common? Yesterday's 50+ session at the Rec Centre!

To mark the beginning of the Comm Games this week our 'teams', representing New Zealand, Scotland and Canada, competed in a series of slightly unconventional events. After some fiercely contested (and very entertaining!) 'basketball', 'sprints', 'curling' and more, the New Zealand team of Vicki, Debbie and Wendy claimed gold!

Alongside the fun and creativity of our recent Boredom Busters holiday programme, plus a successful Rugby Club Ball in the weekend, it's been another great reminder of what our Rec Centre is all about.

The Rec Centre was built to bring people together. Whether you're 5 or 95, we want this to be a place where everyone can enjoy affordable, welcoming activities, make connections, have a laugh, and give something new a go.

That's exactly what our Vision is all about – 'Creating opportunities for health, wellbeing, sport, culture and the arts that make a positive difference in our community.'

Thanks for your continued support of our amazing Centre!

🍪 Get Baking With Boredom Busters!🍪

Calling all young bakers! Join us this week for a hands-on baking session filled with creativity, delicious treats, and holiday fun.

👩‍🍳 Ages 5–8 **Melting Snowmen Biscuits**
Create your own adorable melting snowmen biscuits using icing, marshmallows and lots of tasty decorations. No two snowmen will look the same!

⭐ Ages 9–12 **Spiced Matariki Stained Glass Window Cookies**
Bake beautiful spiced cookies inspired by Matariki, complete with colourful "stained glass" centres that are almost too pretty to eat.

Whether your child loves baking or simply enjoys getting creative in the kitchen, these sessions are a great way to learn new skills, and take home some delicious creations to share (if they don't eat them first!).
