Our Chicken + Leek Pie has taken home a Silver Award at the 2026 🥈✨🙌

A beautiful nod to the care that goes into everything we make - slow cooked, thoughtfully seasoned, and wrapped in that golden, flaky butter crust pastry you all know and love. Made the traditional way, with real butter folded into every layer for that unmistakable rich, melt-in-your-mouth finish.

We feel incredibly grateful to be recognised alongside such a talented community of makers, growers, and producers across Aotearoa - it’s no small thing.

Did you know our deli freezer is stocked with the legendary Charlie’s Gelato? A true Matakana icon, made just down the road — small-batch, handmade, and utterly irresistible. We keep the classics on hand: Dark Chocolate and Vanilla — the perfect way to finish off a Village Kitchen meal (or start one, no judgement).

You’ll also find a rotating selection of other local freezer favourites in there too — think housemade pies, soups, dumplings, bagels and pizza treats to take home.

They’ve been called legendary, they’ve graced countless dinner tables… and now our Village Kitchen Meatballs are so iconic they’ve just made the cover of Junction Mag - Matakana + Beyond 🙌

Rolled fresh from pork & beef, with gluten-free breadcrumbs, simmered in a rich tomato sauce and finished with a sprinkling of parmesan – these beauties are a true village favourite.

Now it’s your turn to get creative – what new flavour of meatballs would you love to see us make? Think bold, fun, maybe even a little out there…

Bonus points for ideas that use local produce from along the Matakana Coast – we love keeping it seasonal and supporting our community growers.

This month’s is a quadruple win for Village Kitchen!
Our famous Village Meatballs are front and centre on the cover, our artisan retail goodies shine on the pull-out Tasting Trail Map, there’s a beautiful editorial write-up sharing our story as the newest addition to the Matakana village, and we’re featured in ’s new luxury stay package, with Village Kitchen provisions included for the ultimate getaway.
