With the long weekend, it was time to get the big job of digging up, dividing and putting the dahlias tubers to bed for the winter. You can leave them in the ground over winter but there is risk of them rotting if we have a very wet winter and they aren’t protected. I also wanted to dig them up so that I can divided them up to hopefully get many more dahlias growing next season . From the 45 plants we had , we got about 250 tubers. So hopefully many of those grow successfully next season. It took a minute, hence the long post, but with some luck it’ll pay off 🤞🏽🤞🏽

The daily jobs now include putting the seedlings outside for the day to ‘harden up’ in preparation for planting out soon. Made less of a chore by seeing the sunrise and sets at those times of the day ☀️
