Babies remembered with love. Parents devastating loss remembered.

Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place from 9th to 15th October every year, ending with International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day on 15th October. It provides an opportunity for parents, families and whanau around New Zealand to come together and remember the lives of their babies who have died. Sands NZ acknowledges the lives and deaths of all babies, no matter their gestation, length of life or how they died. It is also a chance to highlight the work done by Sands around the country.

Landmarks across Aotearoa will be lit up to remember these precious babies, with thanks to local councils, organisations, and businesses, acknowledging the whānau in their area who have suffered such a heartbreaking, devastating loss.

Hope people reading this who are having a difficult time feel a bit better after reading this. 🌞

It’s the time of year when some of us have a diffcult time.

"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.

There was a pause.

"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.

"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."

"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.

"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.

"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.

"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."

And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right."

Amazing doing this wedding ceremony as about 80 people were invited to a birthday party and got there to be surprised by the groom when he said thanks for coming to the birthday party, but guess what, it is also going to be our wedding. The cheers were loud. I pulled out my folder and got on with being the celebrant. Talk about a wonderful experience for everyone. Very joyful.

The wind was up big time in December 2021under The Wedding Tree at Lake Hawea, but no problem for these two. We braved it and had a beaut ceremony with a perfect backdrop and lovely family members present. Very special occasion ❤

I loved being the celebrant for this fantastic couple in February. It was 36 degrees, phew, so barefoot in the cool grass in the shade was the couples choice. Perfect. Always young at heart for these two.
