That's a wrap!! No more gorgeous fresh blooms after today until spring 🌱
It's been an interesting first year as a hobby flower grower on our small town section.
So much goes into providing flowers.
There has been lots of learning curves, on how to grow, what to grow, how to feed my plants , prune, mulch, provide adequate support for plants. The importance of deadheading my dahlias to grow straight strong stems. .
I've enjoyed creating interesting combinations of blooms and foliage. Each creation different to all the rest.
A florist said to me "why have you only used one of those flowers? You obviously don't know the rules of floristry?" I replied it's because I only had one to pick. She stated you're meant to add 3 at least to a bouquet. Oh well I never professed to be a florist just a retired nurse doing what I enjoy most - gardening, working outdoors and making others smile. .
There's been lots of mistakes to learn from which will allow me to do better next season. Learning about the many various pests & diseases which affect plants and how to treat them naturally when possible within our meager budget.is challenging. We had major rust on the roses, the spray needed was $$$ for 500 mls, then we read to use milk & water spray, guess what? Rust gone.
The effect of light conditions and different soils have on various plants.
My labour of love will continue over the winter months hoping to once again in spring bring you beautiful fresh flowers to brighten even the dullest days.
Again a big thank you to all my amazing customers who supported us thru the season. It's been a huge privilege and honour to provide you all with gorgeous affordable fresh home grown flowers.
Thank you all until spring
Amy
