Do you still do flowers? Yeah, but nah...
Earlier on in the season I did sow multiple trays of seeds. And my seedlings were doing really well. I cleared our multiple garden beds and weeded around all my perennials.
Then the storm took my tunnel house, and my husband wanted 3 more hen houses. We got busy with our hens, trying to figure out what all needs done in a day and how to fit that in.
Next minute the peonies came peeping and all of a sudden it is mid-December! And you may have guessed it, those seedlings are still in those trays, not doing so well anymore...
Now it isn't too late to sow more but I am just not sure I will get around to it. Since the 700 new hens have started ramping up their egg production and the school holidays aren't far away. And with the gentian season starting in January, it only really leaves me with a couple of weeks in the busiest time of the year...
I think every season will look different for us. And that is okay. We take it as it comes and cross bridges as we get there.
This season it looks like we will be mainly focusing on producing eggs, peonies and gentians. And if I do manage to sow some more, Bonus Bouquets!
Most of our Clifden flower farm production is bulk/wholesale product. I am wanting to offer straight bunches of flowers as they come available. These will be available in the stall or at the Southern Farmers Market in Invercargill on Sundays.
I do however have a fair bit of self-sown beauties and trusty perennials. If I am able to make a mixed bouquet, I am more than happy to help you, but it all depends on availability at the time. And I really only have a fair idea of what I can do a day or so out. If you are after a mixed bouquet this season, you are welcome to send me a pm and I can let you know if I can help or not.
So YES, we do still 'DO' flowers this season BUT maybe not exactly the kind of flowers you were thinking of πΈ
