People often ask me why I became a wedding celebrant.... 🤷‍♂️

My journey to becoming a celebrant started long before I officiated my first ceremony. It began with a passion for storytelling—listening to people’s experiences, finding the heart of their stories, and sharing them with the world.

Back in my journalism days, I discovered the power of a well-told story. Whether it was uncovering the truth or highlighting a moment of connection, I loved the way stories could bring people together. 🎥

Now, as a celebrant, I get to bring that same passion to every ceremony. It’s about crafting something that’s uniquely you—weaving together the moments that define your relationship and sharing them with the people who matter most.

Every couple has a story worth celebrating, and being trusted to tell it on such a special day is an honour I never take for granted.

Writing your vows can feel like a big task, but it’s also one of the most meaningful parts of your ceremony. ✍️

Here are 3 top tips to get you started:
1️⃣ Speak from the heart. Be authentic. Share why you love your partner, your promises, and your dreams for the future.
2️⃣ Keep it personal. Include stories, inside jokes, or moments that reflect your unique connection.
3️⃣ Be concise. Aim for 2-3 minutes and practice out loud to make sure it flows naturally.

Lucy and Tim made it official in Jan 2024 at a stunning private property in Lincoln, just out of Christchurch. Working alongside Lucy and Tim was super fun in the lead up to their big day - they knew exactly what they wanted. On the big day it was certainly a scorcher of a day, in fact, a typical Canterbury summer day with a blustery Nor’wester keeping us on our toes.
