At the end of March we hosted a beautiful group of weavers, for the first workshop here at Barewood. It was a gentle, joyful and restorative day and hopefully the first of many.
Cocooned by the willow and under the guidance of Tanya from , our weavers spent the day in a trance of learning this ancient skill, creating obelisks to take home and enjoy in their own gardens for years to come.
There was food aplenty! All served up on the veranda, with views to enjoy the autumnal colours painted across the garden. Morning tea featured Sfouf b’debs, a sticky semolina cake with tahini and sesame, and of course cheese scones. Lunch was roman style chicken with crispy oregano and simmered tomatoes, alongside braised leeks with hazelnuts, crème fraiche and sumac and maple roasted pumpkin with bay and cinnamon.
Later, once the obelisks were complete, a freshly made quince cake was enjoyed with some absolutely beautiful wine from . A crisp Pinot Gris pairing perfectly with quince and cardamom. Thank you !!!
Thank you to everyone involved, we can’t wait for the next ✨
