Balcairn Hall Concert Venue. Concert Promotion. Wedding Venue. The Balcairn Hall can be hired on a regular basis or for single events (excluding 18th or 21st birthdays).

It has been extensively renovated with a new kitchen, chairs and tables and modern heat pumps and sound and lighting. We have held weddings, senior birthday parties, seminars, election meetings, lavender competitions and balls. contact [email protected]

The Balcairn Hall invites you to attend the Suzanne Lynch and Elizabeth Braggins - Balcairn Hall - 8th Nov 2025 7:30pm

We look forward to welcoming Suzanne Lynch of ‘The Chicks’ and ‘The Lady Killers’ fame to back to the Balcairn Hall. Suzanne will be joined by local musical legend Elizabeth Braggins (piano, vocals), also a Hall favourite.

Suzanne is on a tour to launch her autobiography, a book highlighting her special musical and personal memoirs. This concert will be a journey with tales and musical tributes. Not to be missed.

Suzanne Lynch was discovered as a teenager along with her sister Judy by New Zealand guitarist Peter Posa, the two sisters became regular performers on the New Zealand television show ‘C’Mon’ in the late 60’s and in 1971 as a soloist Suzanne was also a regular on the television show ‘Happen In’. Having established a name in New Zealand as the blonde member of the popular 60's duo "The Chicks" and then as a solo performer. After a decades long international career, Suzanne is currently still very busy performing as a soloist, as a member of the New Zealand group The Ladykillers, teaches at The Auckland University as a specialty teacher, and takes pupils privately.

Elizabeth (‘Liz’) Braggins is a familiar name in the Christchurch music scene. She has a unique style of piano playing and singing developed from many years of immersion in the music industry. Her highly original versions of well known songs are an eclectic mix of genres highlighting her classical, jazz, pop and rock backgrounds.

The Orange Box - Balcairn Hall - 23rd Sept 2025, 2pm

The Orange Box is the creation of Naranjarte, an extraordinary Spanish puppet theatre and circus company founded by Ana Lorite and Sergio Aguilar in 2011. The production will delight children and adults alike.

Renowned for its unique fusion of puppetry and juggling, Naranjarte’s performances aren’t just shows; they are immersive journeys challenging perceptions and transporting audiences to realms of wonder and delight. "The Orange Box" is a visually captivating story featuring handmade puppets, of mesmerizing juggling, and enchanting circus artistry. Blending diverse puppetry styles with different types of juggling, the story follows a paper puppet stuck in the routine of a packaging office. When a map and a mysterious box appear, they spark his longing for change and set him on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Beyond entertainment, the show carries a deeper message, inviting us to step outside the box, where true magic unfolds. Join this one-of-a-kind adventure that transcends the ordinary and opens the door to the extraordinary. At the end of the show, there will be a short Q&A session where the audience can get up close to some of the puppets and ask questions about the creative process and the company’s journey.
