If you're running a catering business or restaurant out West, Shores to Central Auckland, I got you.

Its all bout the vibes and what you set that gets the customers in. If you're not setting it up right your post aren't going to perform and people don't want to go "Ohh i want that!"

I used to be in hospo myself so I know how much work goes into the food and how annoying it is when the photos don't do it justice.

Lately I've been working with a few catering companies and restaurants around Auckland on getting their food and event content sorted, stuff for their socials, website, menus.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of shooting the Trade Me Property Impact Awards 2026 at Metita in SkyCity.

And honestly, this was one of those events where you could feel the energy in the room.

Property managers and real estate agents from across the industry all in one place. Awards, cultural performances, live music, plenty of laughs.

Paddy Gower was hosting the evening, so it was also great to finally meet him in person after seeing him around the industry for a while.

For me, this is one of the best parts of event photography.

You’re not just photographing the big moments.

It’s the reactions, the conversations, the people catching up, the little moments happening between everything else.

How important is branding for a real estate agent?

I'd say it's one of the most important investments you can make.

When I worked with David Kim, we weren't just taking photos.

We were creating content that showed the person behind the business.

Listings come and go.

A house sells, and a week later it's gone.

But your personal brand stays with you.

People don't just choose an agent because of the house they're selling.

They choose the agent they know, like and trust.

That's why I think more agents should spend just as much time building their own brand as they do marketing their listings.

The house gets the attention.

One of my favourite parts about photographing conferences is listening in while I work.

Last week I was behind the camera at the NZIQS Conference, capturing the speakers throughout the day.

It's always interesting seeing everyone's different presentation styles. Some are full of energy, some are calm and collected, but they all have one thing in common.

They're talking about something they genuinely know.

Christmas and summer are all about winding down and celebrating after another busy year.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to photograph Deloitte's end-of-year Christmas event, and it reminded me why these kinds of events are always enjoyable to be part of.

Sure, there are speeches, awards and plenty of food, but what I enjoy capturing most are the moments in between.

It's easy to think of event photography as just documenting what happened, but for me it's about capturing the culture of a company.

Do you know what's better than updating one headshot for your company?

Updating the whole team.

Not only is it more cost-effective when everyone's together, but it also creates consistency across your business.

Whether it's your website, LinkedIn profiles, email signatures or proposals, having everyone represented with the same style of photography instantly makes your business look more professional.

It also means new team members don't stick out with a phone selfie from five years ago.

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph the team at The Cause Collective, making sure everyone walked away with an updated headshot they could confidently use across their professional profiles.

It's one of those small investments that makes a big difference to how your business is perceived.

Because your brand isn't just your logo.

It's also the people behind it.

People don't hire tradies because they have the best camera.

They hire the ones they trust.

Matt from Blackbox Plumbing knows his stuff when it comes to plumbing and gas fitting across Auckland.

The challenge wasn't his work.

It was showing people what he does before they picked up the phone.

After sitting down for a planning session, we mapped out the kind of content that would best represent his business and got to work creating a library of images he could use across his website and social media.

The goal wasn't just to take good photos.

It was to help future customers see the person behind the business, the quality of his work, and the professionalism he brings to every job.

Whether you're a plumber, electrician, builder or any other trade, people want to know who's turning up at their door.

A strong personal brand helps build that trust long before the first call.

I've had the chance to work with Marcjon Nim from Nim Creative a few times now, and every shoot has been a good reminder of why personal branding matters.

Marc runs Nim Creative, an agency that helps businesses with branding, strategy and telling their story with creative marketing. But what I like most is that he doesn't just talk about branding, he invests in his own.

It's easy to tell clients to show up online, but it's another thing to actually do it yourself.

Professional photos aren't just about looking good.

They're about helping people put a face to the business, building trust before the first conversation, and giving you content that works across your website, LinkedIn, social media and marketing.

People connect with people.

If you're building a business, don't hide behind your logo. Your personal brand is one of your biggest assets.
