A visible underskirt seam might seem minor, but on a wedding gown, every line matters 😱

The bride was not happy with the way the edging of the underskirt was showing through the outer layer, creating a vertical line down the body. And she was absolutely right to raise it.

We decided to remake the underskirt for a smoother finish and add boning to the bodice to give her the support and structure she needed.

Two identical gowns, two different personalities ✨

Alongside the usual bridal alterations, one bride chose a French bustle, while the other opted for a Ballroom bustle. Each giving the gown its own unique shape, movement, and finish.

And for one of them, we also created custom sleeves 😉

Which bustle is your favourite? I've always been more drawn to Ballroom bustle but I've had many requests for French bustle all of a sudden!

What looked like an 8cm shoulder problem ended up only needing 3cm 👏🏼

Once we added the panel and gave the dress the room it actually needed through the bust, waist, and armhole, everything started sitting where it should. Only then could we properly see how much length needed to be added through the shoulders, and it ended up being far less than it first appeared.

This is why the order of alterations matters just as much as knowing which alterations are required. When the right changes are done at the right time, the whole process comes together in a much more stress-free and non-overwhelming way 😌

You can’t fix the shoulders first when the whole bodice is pulling out of place 🤯

The tricky part is that you can’t correctly adjust the shoulders until the resizing issue has been solved first, because the amount of length needed can change once the fit is sitting where it should.

In this case, the armhole was sitting too close to her back armhole, so the first step was to bring that area back into the right position by inserting a V panel 🫡

I’ll show you how it looks at her next fitting, so stay tuned to see how it comes together 😍

This was a 30-year-old wedding dress that we helped bring back to life, so our bride could rewear her mother’s gown on her special day 😍

We’ve recently seen so many brides purchase second-hand gowns or sample sale dresses, so I wanted to share that if your gown needs both alterations and a refresh, we can take care of both!

We alter it first, then have it beautifully dry-cleaned so it’s fresh, finished, and ready for collection at your final pick-up appointment 🤍

This gorgeous gown from was already such a beautiful dress, but our bride had a clear vision for how she wanted to make it her own 🫶🏼

We created draping through the front bodice, replaced the original off-shoulder lace sleeves with plain pleated sleeves, and also made custom lace gloves to give her a second look. We then finished everything with a custom veil to bring it all together 🥰

What I loved most about this transformation was that it gave her two beautiful looks; one softer and more understated, and the other a bit more dramatic, while still feeling completely true to the gown 😍

A quick trick for when button loops start stretching too much ✨

If the button loops on a gown are stretching too much, adding small hooks and eyes on the inside can help take the pressure off and keep everything sitting much more neatly. The key is not just adding them, but knowing exactly where to place them so the tension is distributed evenly.

SAVE this post for the next time you come across an online dress that often comes with very stretchy elastic button loops 😉

You would never guess how much the inside of a dress affects the outside appearance 🧚🏻‍♀️

This dress went from looking unsupported and uneven to elegant, secure, and beautifully sculpted for our bride!!
