I had to pop away for a couple of nights so came back to lots of tulips ready to be picked. All pink, purple, deep red and just one yellow bloom!! A quick pick this morning of all sorts of spring gorgeousness and dropping off now before helping my lovely daughter move out of home and into her own house. I’ve got a vase full of bright and beautiful poppies to gaze at while we clean and unpack today. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Friday is Daffodil Day - a day that is a chance to show your friends and family affected by cancer that they are not alone. We are using it as a chance to give back to Totara Hospice who have helped me and my family through terminal cancer. We will donate 50% of any daffodil seasonals purchased back to Tōtara Hospice. Daffodils are one of my favourite flowers, the first flower of spring, bringing light after dark days and hope for a new beginning. All our daffodils are grown with love on our flower farm.

This fabulous casket spray stopped me in my tracks when I walked into The Wild Rose. Made by the lovely Christina, so many gorgeous and special flowers, and full of love. Another tribute from a family member who couldn’t be at the funeral - the feedback was “my family will be stunned by the spray. A beautiful tribute.”

Freesias and gladioli nanus are starting to bloom on our farm. Some very, very long stems and some very, very short ones. Not all colours yet but I do love these, especially when they have fragrance too! Freesias definitely make me feel like spring is closer.

Hellebores are one of my favourite flowers and our flower of the month for August - maybe because they are flowering when little else is, maybe because there are so many gorgeous varieties. From white to pink to green to deep burgundy, single petals to lovely ruffled layers - they’re all beautiful. I may have bought a few more today because even though I don’t need more, I couldn’t help myself!! If you’re wondering about picking them to enjoy inside - wait until they are starting to develop seed heads and I also dip the stems in boiling water for about 10 seconds until they stop bubbling and this helps get a great vase life from them. One of my absolute favourites has to be “Anna’s red” as my daughter is Anna and they are actually her favourite colour - deep burgundy red. Which one is your favourite?
