Follow the final sun of the year as it dips west over the hills. Nestled among trees, rolling slopes, and soft sand-based grass, the Hill Stage offers an amphitheatrical haven to welcome the new year with positive intentions.

Festivities begin with the All-Ages Talent Show on New Year’s Eve from 11:30am - start preparing your act and apply!

A safe and welcoming space for all who wish to share their gifts, the Hill Zone is sheltered from the elements and surrounded by nature’s gentle embrace.

We welcome all forms of creativity - MCs, beatboxers, actors, flow-toys, spinners, jugglers, singers, contortionists, comedians, magicians, and anyone ready to share something special.

With all ages invited, we ask that performances remain PG and no longer than 5 minutes. Please send in your submissions by 14th December, and be sure you have your festival ticket before registering. We can’t wait to see what you bring to the Hill!

This morning it hit me that Brett Bronze is 18 years old.

📅 Saturday 29th September 2007
📍 Space Bar, Newmarket
🎧 Twisted Inverno – Main Room – 10pm

I arrived early with a large crew - nervous, sweaty, ready.
The menu? Aural Trash inspired filthy electro house and breaks.
I’d just bought my very first tunes on Beatport - most of them digital copies of the vinyl I had been using (I have that on vinyl)

At 10pm there were around 50 people in the room. Raised voices bellowed throughout the special venue as the final bits of setup finished.

The first track dropped into a brief silence - Misjah - What Is - a tune that had charted #1 on Beatport, though I had no idea at the time. It hit hard. Everyone looked at me. “Oh sh*t,” I thought, “is this too heavy?”
The smiles said no.

It didn’t take long before that dancefloor was full and heaving until close. What a start.

Since that night - through radio sets, livestreams, club nights, festivals, private events, and mobile DJ gigs - I’ve played well over a thousand sets. And I’m not planning to stop there.

But things have changed. With the loss of iconic venues like Fitzroy, Funkhutt, and Ink Bar, the opportunities to play have become fewer. I suppose this is what growing up in the scene feels like.

We need a new space - a home for the next wave.
If anyone out there knows of a hidden gem or untapped venue in Auckland City, reach out. There are plenty of us who still share the same mission:
to bring our scene back to life - properly, and with purpose.

For now, happy Labour Day, I hope you’re all getting a good rest in today.
