17 years ago my Daffodil Day looked like this - it started at 5am with me dragging a patio heater ( kindly donated by Carlton Party Hire) through Auckland Domain in the dark.
Started to paint my lovely brave model in between live crossovers to TV3 Breakfast show.
Then we moved up to the Cancer Society Domain House to finish off- around mid morning a procession of us headed down Carlton Gore Street to Newmarket to meet More FM Radio to do some collecting on Broadway.
To finish off we headed down to the Viaduct for more collecting donations - it was a huge and super fun day
I actually stuck a real mini flax basket with fresh daffodils on models back. It was my first attempt at making latex ni**le covers. This was one of my first body paintings.

It’s so wonderful to be a part of this awesome initiative- Suitcase Stories- The Luggage of Legends.
The vast majority of artists are from Christchurch and surrounds and me from Auckland - are there any other Auckland artists or NZ creators who couldn’t resist the call of a Vintage Suitcase 🧳?
All of the suitcases will be on display and don’t forget this is all about raising funds for Koru Care Christchurch and Nurse Maude

Learn more about the awesome Vintage Suitcase Project at Chapter1 - as soon as I heard the call for Christchurch artists to paint on Vintage Suitcases I asked Rachel if I could be involved as I am in Auckland.
She kindly said yes so I set about finding my own case and planning my design- I had such fun creating my suitcase then it travelled down to join the others.
There will be an exhibition and a runway show - the cases are for sale to raise money for charity- please check out this project and share with any Christchurch business who might be keen to donate and purchase a suitcase.
There are some spectacular designs, such variety of designs and cases. It’s such an awesome project it is really wonderful to be a part of this initiative.
