šŸ“£ Staff Spotlight time!šŸ“£

Next up from our incredible crew, it's dān dān - a multitalented artist who was part of our original 2025 Rangatahi Residency cohort! One of Dani's favourite memories here was when she recently watched the amazing The Velvet Haven team rehearse for the Cabaret Festival, Dani said "It was such a beautiful moment to see them in action!!!"

Dani is celebrating the release of her upcoming 'songs about food' EP at the fabulous Te Oro in Glen Innes.

There's a 7-piece band, a chef interviewer, poetry, dance, crochet, a washing machine, interactive light/sound installations, a zine... and you, hopefully (please and thank you) dressed inspired by food.

'songs about food' is a bilingual English & Mandarin EP about family, identity, and growing up between cultures, with food doing the heavy lifting as the medium of storytelling.

Expect equal acts vulnerability and silliness.

Saturday 22 August
Doors 6:30pm, performance at 8:00pm.

Tickets via Eventfinda here: https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2026/songs-about-food-the-ep-release-party/auckland/glen-innes

šŸ“£Staff Spotlight Time!šŸ“£

We are super pumped to bring you another staff highlight - this time from the one and only Rowan! It's honestly such a joy to shout out our team, each of whom are uniquely talented.

Rowan is part of the Auckland Mixed Barbershop Chorus (AMBC), and is singing in a show with their parent chorus City of Sails on August 2nd! AMBC are New Zealand's champion small chorus after their debut last year at the BHNZ national convention and are set to compete again in September this year in Wellington. They are an emerging mixed barbershop chorus in Auckland dedicated to building community through harmony and revitalising barbershop in the region.

You'll often find Rowan (pictured front and centre snagging that trophy!) chatting to audiences post show about their thoughts and experiences in The Factory Theatre, and is a true champion for the arts in all forms.

Grab your tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/feelin-groovy-tickets-1992743568657 or check out the event here https://www.facebook.com/events/3897301090565803 and get ready for an afternoon guaranteed to leave you Feelin' Groovy!

šŸ“£Staff Spotlight Time!šŸ“£

Did you know that the tīma of The Factory Theatre are all crazy talented?!? Our amazing crew are all up to some pretty incredible things, so we wanted to take some time to a) introduce you to a few of the people who make The Factory Theatre tick, and b) tell you all about the cool projects they're working on!

First up, is the multitalented Ehetere, who is bringing NGARO/ERTACH to Basement Theatre next wiki under the banner of Triple Violet Arts.

a stone circle is assembled on unceded Māori land. marking a meeting ground, a wāhi tapu.
from the landscapes of Celtic-tongued people, this lithic tradition is reinterpreted and offered as a site of relation-making, burial and possibility.

Showings on 30/31 July & 1 August at 8pm, pay-what-you-can tickets from iTICKET here: https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2026/jul/ngaro-ertach

Ehetere is one of the longest serving team members of The Factory Theatre, working just about every job that we have thrown at her (including covering for me while I was in Vancouver, what an angel!) PLUS was one of our inaugural Rangatahi Residents last year.

We are so thrilled to see this next phase of her creative journey come to life, and hope to see you at the show!

Thrilled to have Red Leap Theatre at The Factory Theatre for the next three weeks rehearsing their next show CYGNET.

Cygnet is an inter-generational journey, a perilous folk-tale and a coming-of-age story told through Red Leap’s signature physical-theatre lens. An allegory of loss, discovery and imagination’s power to change worlds. Based on the short story by Lara Ehrlich exploring swan bride folklore, Cygnet is a non-verbal, visually captivating production featuring astounding puppetry, bold physicality, and live projection for ages 8+.

There will be one public showing on 14 August at:
Te Puna Creative Hub, 8/14 Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, Auckland

We had such a wonderful week of little ones filling The Factory Theatre with their laughter and chatter. We can't wait to do it all over again in October!!!
Thanks to all the grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, brothers and sisters, caregivers, guardians, nannies who brought their loved ones to visit us.
A special thanks to Sandra who also donated to support our on-going activities.
If anyone has missed our on-going call out for donations, fear not, it's still live. Every bit helps and enables us to create more opportunities for artists, actors, creators, musicians, dancers....who are all struggling to find support for their work.

Thank you ahead of time.
And to all who made Magic Messy Adventure happen.

Amidst all of our Messy Magic Adventure fun, we just wanted to take a moment to say a massive THANK YOU to all the donors who came through at the end of last month.

We had an incredible turnout, and the highest number of first time donors our venue has seen! The difference that we are making for the New Zealand Blood Service is huge, and we could not do it without you!

So, get ready to roll up those sleeves once again, because the team will be back on Tuesday, 29th September! Mark it in your calendars now, get a team together and come and help us save lives!
