"We had the absolute pleasure of having our wedding at Mt Vernon Lodge last weekend. From the initial email to the big day, David and Amanda were beyond helpful. The first time we toured the venue, I fell in love with how calm the venue felt and with its natural beauty. Amanda did a great job at checking in with us at several points during the lead up to the wedding. These emails were super helpful to get us thinking about things we hadn't yet ticked off our list. They were more than happy to help and quick to respond to my last-minute questions as well. We were lucky enough to have the venue for the long weekend which allowed our family and friends to come together and connect in the lead up to the wedding.
The venue provided BBQ's and full kitchen facilities which allowed us to have a large family dinner the night before the wedding. On the big day, David and Amanda seamlessly helped us to prepare the ceremony lawn and set the umbrellas for our cocktail hour - taking the stress out of the set up. The day after our wedding, they generously gifted us a bottle of wine (a Mt Vernon Sauvignon Blanc nonetheless), a card and some delicious fudge locally sourced from Akaroa.
We had our family and friends stay on site with us for the weekend and everyone complimented on how tidy, well-resourced and lovely their rooms were. The Maison Cottage was the perfect spot for getting ready and the beautiful backdrop and gorgeous venue were perfect for getting photos done on site (as well as some done up the road at the Akaroa Heritage Park).
The venue, including the luscious ceremony lawn as well as the function room, was equipped with everything to make for a perfect venue! Having chairs and tables provided as well as a great sound system in the function room made it easier for us as there was one less thing to factor in.
Overall, David and Amanda made the whole process super easy and choosing to get married at Mt Vernon Lodge was one of the best decisions we made! Thanks again for everything. We would highly recommend this beautiful space and wonderful owners - 10/10! Thanks for making our day so magical :)"

The last 2 weeks have been a busy time with 4 lovely couples tying the knot here at Mt Vernon Lodge.
The weather has proven to be typical of the New Zealand summer with rainy days, bluebird days and even a heat wave, which our fantastic couples have all taken in their stride to still have the most amazing day. 🥰

It was our pleasure to welcome Roxie from NZ Mini Tours and Travel and her guests yesterday. A great night for a Kiwi BBQ as the sun went down, followed by a little star gazing. ✨🥰

"Best decision of our lives. We were married here last year in September. This venue captures the best that New Zealand has to offer, from the chorus of native birds to the stunning backdrop of the ocean. Complete with its special accommodation, the wedding lawn and reception area - everything is meticulously laid out and provided for. Thank you, David and Amanda, for your hospitality and the immense support you guys provided not only during our wedding but in the planning stages beforehand - we always speak of you two when we share our experience! We are unreservedly grateful to you both for allowing us to visit a couple of times to obtain measurements for our reception set up in the lead-up to our wedding day.

Even with a power cut that lasted for 20 hours, the day went beautifully for S + J on Saturday! The weather gods redeemed themselves with a fabulous winter’s day 🌞

💌This was the perfect Venue for our wedding!
Amanda & David take such great care of you from the booking process all the way to check out. Our caterer was late & David helped to organize them without us even knowing, these guys know weddings!
They have a huge amount equipment / supplies onsite. It saves a lot of organizing. They really have thought of everything.
Having our family & bridal party all staying on site created such a magical weekend.
The grounds are gorgeous & the rooms are all clean & comfortable.

Mt Vernon Lodge, located in Akaroa, is seeking a housekeeping team leader to join our dedicated team. Mt Vernon Lodge serves as a wedding, conference, and accommodation venue situated in a secluded and picturesque area, just minutes from central Akaroa.
This role is a full-time permanent position with a guarantee of 30 hours per week. The typical working hours are from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, five days a week, including weekends. We offer competitive industry rates of pay and a supportive, friendly working environment.
Candidates must be reliable, have a good work ethic, an eye for detail, and the ability to work on weekends. A current driver’s licence and a reasonable level of fitness are also required.
While cleaning experience is preferred for this team lead position, leadership experience is not essential. However, candidates should have the confidence and willingness to learn how to effectively lead a team to achieve optimal outcomes.
The start date for this position is flexible, ideally around the end of March. Although accommodation is not provided, we will do our best to assist candidates in securing local accommodation if needed.
