Today, the heart of Kathmandu beats to the rhythm of galloping hooves. As the dust rises at Tundikhel, we pause to celebrate Ghode Jatra, a festival that is much more than just a display of equestrian skill it is a living testament to our rich history and cultural resilience.

Steeped in local legend, this "Festival of Horses" signifies the victory over the demon Tundi. It is believed that the thunderous pounding of horse hooves keeps the spirit of the demon buried deep underground, ensuring peace and safety for the people of the valley.
Beyond the myths, it is a day where:
We witness the incredible bond between rider and horse.
Families gather to share meals and celebrate our unique Newari heritage.
We honor the ancient rituals that have shaped our identity for generations.

At Diyo Mahal, we believe in honoring the roots that keep us grounded while racing toward a bright future. On this auspicious day of Chaitra 04, we wish all our fellow Nepalis a day filled with the same strength, speed, and nobility that the horse symbolizes.
May the gallop of the horses drive away all negativity from your life and usher in a season of prosperity, health, and boundless energy!
