Lars lærte å spille gitar av storebroren da han var 13 år. Han skrev sanger helt fra denne tiden. I 1984 dannet han gruppa deLillos. Lars lagde tekster og melodier til gruppa, og tekstene fikk fort oppmerksomhet for sin enkle og direkte, men likevel underfundige form. LP’en ”Suser av gårde” fra 1986…
