Happy Birthday to the iconic Andy Warhol!

A key pioneer of the Pop Art movement, he was known for his bold colours and techniques, such as experimenting with crushed glass, which he called 'diamond dust'.

Warhol also famously portrayed four ruling female monarchs in his 1985 Reigning Queens series, and our collection includes his portrait of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

Plan your visit during our opening hours to experience an Andy Warhol piece with your own eyes.

The Office at Rasmussen Samlingene is a perfectly preserved time capsule, open to visitors.

Once the private workspace of Hilmar Reksten, the Norwegian shipping magnate and art collector, it remains almost exactly as he left it. With his personal library and handwritten travel journals still in place, it offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the man who shaped Bergen’s industry and culture.

Step inside the room and uncover the history behind the man who inhabited it in our latest blog post: https://rasmussen-samlingene.no/en/the-office-blog/

Something exciting is coming to Rasmussen Samlingene.

We look forward to introducing our new sculpture garden, expanding the gallery experience outdoors, into the surrounding landscape.

The sculpture garden will offer visitors a new way to engage with art in another unique setting. We look forward to unveiling the sculpture garden and welcoming visitors soon.

Art meets science in Guttestreker's Substance City.

Inspired by the Rat Park experiment, this piece explores how modern cities and the systems within them shape human behaviour.

A fascinating collision of psychology, history and pop culture.

Hear from the artists themselves about what inspired the work and the themes woven into it.

Marking Midsummer in Norway. ☀️

Today, we're getting lost in Per Fronth’s Aerosol/Five, a work that captures the nostalgia of Norwegian summer: long days by the water and the sense that daylight might never end.

The perfect way to welcome the season here in Bergen.

Wishing you a wonderful Midsummer and many bright days ahead.

Happy World Music Day!

Today, we are celebrating the vital role music plays within our gallery.

Rasmussen Samlingene is proud to be home to an exceptional collection of pianos, where our gallery serves as a creative residency. Over the years, these instruments have allowed us to host a rich variety of live concerts, transforming our exhibitions into acoustic experiences.

Here is a look back at some of our pianos and how they have been used beautifully over time.

Thank you to all the artists who have brought these instruments to life, and to the guests who have shared these special musical experiences with us.

The art world mourns the passing of David Hockney. Today, we reflect on his monumental contributions to art history and celebrate his enduring legacy.

Renowned for his iconic depictions of swimming pools and his masterful handling of light, water, and perspective, Hockney fundamentally impacted how we engage with contemporary art. His genius lay in his unwavering dedication to evolution; he refused to be confined by tradition, actively embracing new technologies and unconventional media throughout his entire career.

We are privileged to house his work within our collection. His pieces on our walls stand as a testament to a lifetime of innovation, leaving an indelible influence on generations of artists and collectors.
