Dit is een tweedaags sporttoernooi voor studenten die chemisch gerelateerde studies studeren aan één van de in Nederland gevestigde universiteiten. De organisatie van de ONCS wordt sinds 2001 begeleid door de stichting ONCS. Elk jaar is het aan een andere studievereniging om de organisatie van de ONCS op zich te nemen. Uit deze vereniging wordt ongeveer twee jaar voor de betreffende ONCS een commi
ssie gevormd. Deze gaat vanaf dat moment bezig met alles wat bij een ONCS komt kijken: een sportcentrum, feestlocaties, catering, sponsoring etc. De ONCS begint over het algemeen op woensdagavond (de avond voor Hemelvaart) met een borrel/feest. Ook wordt de speciale activiteit op donderdag gehouden. Dit is een, zoals het woord al aangeeft, wedstrijd, waarvan de precieze invulling onbekend is, die tussen verschillende verenigingen gespeeld wordt. Vaak houdt de activiteit verband met het thema van de ONCS van dat jaar. Op donderdagavond wordt er weer feest gevierd en wordt de beruchte bierestafette gehouden. Op vrijdag worden dan tot slot de laatste wedstrijden gespeeld en aan het eind van de dag wordt de winnaar bekend gemaakt. De verschillende sporten die gespeeld worden zijn teamsporten (basketbal, hockey, knotsbal, voetbal, volleybal, de bierestafette en de speciale activiteit) en individuele sporten (badminton, triviant). The abbreviation ONCS denotes Open Nederlandse Chemie Sportdagen (Open Dutch Chemistry Sports days). This is a two-day sports tournament for students of a chemistry-related study of a university located in the Netherlands. Since 2001, the organization of the ONCS has been supervised by the ONCS foundation. Each year, another student association is responsible for organising the ONCS. This association forms a committee approximately two years before the concerning ONCS. From that moment on, they start planning everything regarding the ONCS: a sports centre, party locations, catering, sponsoring, etc. Generally, the ONCS start at Wednesday evening (the evening before Ascension day) with a borrel (social drinks). On Thursday, the first matches will be played, the special activity will also be held then. Like the name states, this is a match, of which the details remain a secret, that is played between the different associations. Often, the activity is related to the theme of that years ONCS. Also, on Thursday the party will be held, including the notorious beer relay. Friday is the day on which the last matches will be played, at the end of the day, the winner will be announced. Different sports that will be played include team sports (basketball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, knotsbal, the beer relay and special activity) and individual sports (badminton, triviant).
