ONCS, Herculesplein 341, Utrecht (2026)

Dit is een tweedaags sporttoernooi voor studenten die chemisch gerelateerde studies studeren aan één van de in Nederland gevestigde universiteiten. De organisatie van de ONCS wordt sinds 2001 begeleid door de stichting ONCS. Elk jaar is het aan een andere studievereniging om de organisatie van de ONCS op zich te nemen. Uit deze vereniging wordt ongeveer twee jaar voor de betreffende ONCS een commi

ssie gevormd. Deze gaat vanaf dat moment bezig met alles wat bij een ONCS komt kijken: een sportcentrum, feestlocaties, catering, sponsoring etc. De ONCS begint over het algemeen op woensdagavond (de avond voor Hemelvaart) met een borrel/feest. Ook wordt de speciale activiteit op donderdag gehouden. Dit is een, zoals het woord al aangeeft, wedstrijd, waarvan de precieze invulling onbekend is, die tussen verschillende verenigingen gespeeld wordt. Vaak houdt de activiteit verband met het thema van de ONCS van dat jaar. Op donderdagavond wordt er weer feest gevierd en wordt de beruchte bierestafette gehouden. Op vrijdag worden dan tot slot de laatste wedstrijden gespeeld en aan het eind van de dag wordt de winnaar bekend gemaakt. De verschillende sporten die gespeeld worden zijn teamsporten (basketbal, hockey, knotsbal, voetbal, volleybal, de bierestafette en de speciale activiteit) en individuele sporten (badminton, triviant). The abbreviation ONCS denotes Open Nederlandse Chemie Sportdagen (Open Dutch Chemistry Sports days). This is a two-day sports tournament for students of a chemistry-related study of a university located in the Netherlands. Since 2001, the organization of the ONCS has been supervised by the ONCS foundation. Each year, another student association is responsible for organising the ONCS. This association forms a committee approximately two years before the concerning ONCS. From that moment on, they start planning everything regarding the ONCS: a sports centre, party locations, catering, sponsoring, etc. Generally, the ONCS start at Wednesday evening (the evening before Ascension day) with a borrel (social drinks). On Thursday, the first matches will be played, the special activity will also be held then. Like the name states, this is a match, of which the details remain a secret, that is played between the different associations. Often, the activity is related to the theme of that years ONCS. Also, on Thursday the party will be held, including the notorious beer relay. Friday is the day on which the last matches will be played, at the end of the day, the winner will be announced. Different sports that will be played include team sports (basketball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, knotsbal, the beer relay and special activity) and individual sports (badminton, triviant). 🌴Meet the committee🌴

Fleur is our commissioner of promotion. Fleur studies Biotechnology in Wageningen and is a member of CODON. She is the oldest member of our committee, making her the mum of the group. During our meetings, Fleur is always happy and she has shown to be very creative. With this creativity, she has made the logo together with Suzanne and redesigned our beautiful web page.

If Fleur were a jungle animal, she would be a frog. She lights up the committee making her Fleurescent.

If Fleur were an amino acid, she would be phenylalanine. Phenylalanine is converted into dopamine in the body, just like Fleur always makes us feel happy during our meetings.

🌴Meet the committee🌴

Melle is our very enthusiastic treasurer. Melle studies Chemistry in Utrecht. He likes to join us at games and parties, but not always at committee meetings.

If Melle were an amino acid, he would be histidine. This amino acid is rare, like Melle’s attendings to meetings, but also essential, as the treasurer in our committee.

If Melle were a jungle animal, he would be a koala. He takes care of our money pouch (‘geldbuidel’) and likes to cuddle.

🌴Meet the committee 🌴

Youri is our commissioner of sponsoring, but we also know him as Zjoerie. Youri studies Biotechnology in Wageningen and is an active member of the study association CODON. Youri, on the one hand, is very relaxed and likes doing his own thing. Zjoerie, on the other hand, does not have a filter. That makes him the quote champion of our committee and he is proud of that.

If Youri were a jungle animal, he would be an anteater. They like to do their own thing just like Youri does.

🌴Meet the committee 🌴

Inèz is our commissioner of party & catering, also known as our Queen of the Party. Inèz studies chemistry in Utrecht. She is very sporty and can’t always attend our meetings due to her hockey practices or matches. Because of those practices, she does not train her beer muscles. Therefore, she can sprint faster than she can drink a beer. Also, chemistry is in her bloodline.

If Inèz were a jungle animal, she would be a tiger mom. She likes to be led by her maternal instincts to protect other committee members. With these maternal instincts she is also going to feed everyone at the ONCS.

If Inèz were an amino acid, she would be a proline. She is small and needs to squeeze herself in different positions to attend all the meetings due to her busy agenda.
