He hosts the hardcore podcast and works at the record label Be Yourself Music. Recype – ‘Justined’ to deliver the highest quality
“The Past”
The story of Manga a.k.a. Recype is an example that hard work and true dedication can lead to achieving your ultimate goals. Justin started playing records in 1993 under the name Manga and together with his good friend Amitri they formed the infamous duo Ma
ngAmitri Forces.. Justin developed his skills as he together with 3 other artists won a DJ contest is the Fun Factory (red. Hemkade zaandam), organised by Strobe Magazine in 1997, which led to the formation of the Strobe DJ Team. The still 18 years-old Justin got to play at the legendary Energiehal of Rotterdam, one of the locations that makes the hearts of 10 thousands of hardcore-addicts rise to 180 BPM. The hunger to play more was rising as he explored his musical interest in other music styles. This is were the journey begun.
“ID&T and Hardcore Revival”
He got a job offered at ID&T in 2002/2003 á big event organisation who brought all dance music styles to another level. Coming from a technical background and working as a video conference technician it was a big challenge for him to enter the music industry. In the time he worked at ID&T as he compiled the harder style compilations like Sensation Black, ID&T Hardstyle, Thunderdome and the ID&T Present series as a product manager. His most proud and biggest compilation he did was the “Hardcore Vibes – Back to the good old days” as he also featured on the cover and in booklet (To be honest there was no one to be found who would shave his head for this compilation :)...). In his periode of working for ID&T he also got involved in the Thunderdome aspect as he worked on this concept behind the scene, this fired up his old love again and he started buying records again. However he had to adapt himself to the new style he had seen that this musical stream had developed itself to another level. A new breed of artists entered the scene like Promo, Nosferatu, Catscan, Evil Activities and Outblast.. but the old garde like Neophyte, Bass D & King Matthew
DJ Manga
His name circulated more and more in the scene. He was asked to play on some of the biggest parties: he played as DJ Manga on Thunderdome for two consecutive years ( 2004 and 2005), rocked the Thunderdome stage of the first edition of Dominator and outshined at every single edition of Nature One since 2004. Due to this accomplishment, some people in the scene nicknamed him “Mr. In his period with ID&T he got in contact with Outblast of Art Of Dance, and he and the Art of Dance crew offered Justin a contract. This resulted in the signing of DJ Manga to the worldwide acclaimed agency Masters Of Hardcore Bookings. He got to play more and more on big events. He smashed the Reunion Area of the Masters Of Hardcore 2006 edition at the Westfalenhallen of Dortmund, played on many editions of Mindcontroller, rocked Outblast – The 2005 and 2006, 2007 Birthday Edition and also performed on parties like Scumworld 2007, Raveworld – 15 Years Of Bass-D & King Matthew, Trip 2 Dreamland In Erotic City 2007, The Eden Rave 2008 and opened the Oldschool stage of Masters Of Hardcore in 2008. No more Manga
But Justin wanted to take a stand, and developed an alter ego in 2007: “Recype”. Under this pseudonym, he likes to play the raw mainstream and darker styles in hardcore. This new name got picked up quite fast, as he got booked on big events like Masters Of Hardcore 2008 & 2009, the second and third edition of Dominator in 2007 and 2008, Oldschool Madness, Raving Nightmare, Hardcore Junky 2008 and played on Outblast – The 2007 and 2008 Birthday Edition. MOH Radio Crew
But that was not all. In 2006, Justin was approached by Kel the founder of MOH Radio if he would like to present the famous Masters of Hardcore Radio liveshow. On the 2nd of February 2007, he started a new career as the host of the MOH Radio Liveshow. Together with his friends Mercenary & The Menace, he was the main host of the radioshow. He also took his first steps in producing records. After spending hours and hours in the studio together with , the hardcorescene can look forward to Recype’s first productions in 2009. The Future
Unfortunately, he decided to quit the radioshow at the end of 2008, but started a new hardcore label at his current company in 2009. With 16 years of experience in hardcore, Justin is destined to deliver quality stuff to the scene. Being very self-critical and expecting nothing else than that from others, you can depend on this man. He will rock your sences as a DJ ( his resume speaks for itself), and his first steps in producing lead to big expectations for the near future.
