Keukenconnecties March Dinnertime: Kimchi + Rice Cake
Kamila from Kimchi Meid ( Kimchi Meid ) taught us how to prepare this Korean staple from scratch. She gave us all the tips and tricks, and we were lucky to learn from her wide experience bringing traditional vegan kimchi to Eindhoven!
Jaeyoung ( jaeyoung.lee ) presented the Kimjang Chronotope, while we tasted our creation on a dinner prepared with love by our team. Her project explores the disappearing tradition of Kimjang as a symbol of community spirit and human collaboration with micro-organisms, touching on socio-political and environmental aspects of fermentation.
We had a sweet ending to the night- tasting a Korean rice cake made by Saeneul ( ), part of a developing design experiment delving into Korea’s adoption of Western pastry to develop its own identity.
Thanks to everyone who came and participated! Stay tuned for future Keukenconnecties events.
If you missed out last time, on Sept 26 you can join a Kimchi workshop with Kimchi Meid . DM us to get your ticket!
