**MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND PHANTASMA**

Our recent tutorial brought quite a few new faces to our little corner of the internet, so we thought it was time to introduce ourselves again!

We are Phantasma, a small creative studio from the Netherlands, run by Anja, Sanne and Brooke.

Anja and Sanne are the costume makers and designers behind Phantasma, founded in 2004. Sanne joined in 2010. Sanne joined in 2010 and are the official owners. We design and create our own costumes, work on commissions, research techniques and spend an arguably unreasonable amount of time obsessing over fabrics, details and references.

Brooke is an important creative and technical force behind the studio. She helps us with ideas, problem solving, all kinds of practical jobs when deadlines get scary, and everything technical. She also built our website and keeps many of the things behind the scenes running. We create the visual layout and design ourselves, while Brooke makes the digital magic work.

And yes, we take our own photographs too!

🇬🇧 Weekend! We hope your weekend will be filled with inspiration, love, creativity and moments that make you smile.

Now that the hottest days are behind us, we're taking Nelson back to the beach. Watching him enjoy the sea and the sand never gets old and those moments together mean the world to us.

We're hoping to spend some time on our Elissa costume as well in the upcoming days. It's one of those projects that's patiently waiting in the wings, and we're looking forward to giving it a little more attention.

Whatever your plans are this weekend, we hope you have a wonderful one.

🇬🇧 Designing with fabric is a bit like painting with texture. This reel is sped up nine times, and it still takes almost two minutes… because before a single stitch is sewn, there’s a lot of designing to do.

For every panel, we carefully choose different fabrics, colours and textures, cut them into shape and create a balanced patchwork collage. The variety in materials is what will give the finished costume its rich, layered appearance.

We have already completed quite a few panels, but there are still five more to design. Slowly but surely, this magical commission is coming to life.

🇳🇱 Ontwerpen met stof is eigenlijk een beetje schilderen met textuur.

Deze reel is negen keer versneld en duurt dan nóg bijna twee minuten… omdat er, nog vóór er één steek wordt gezet, ontzettend veel ontwerpwerk in gaat zitten.

Voor ieder pandje zoeken we zorgvuldig verschillende stoffen, kleuren en texturen uit. Daarna knippen we alle stukjes op maat en puzzelen we net zo lang tot er een mooie patchworkcollage ontstaat. Juist die afwisseling in materialen zorgt straks voor de rijke uitstraling van het uiteindelijke kostuum.

Ik heb inmiddels al een flink aantal panelen af, maar er moeten er nog vijf ontworpen worden. Stap voor stap komt deze bijzondere commissie steeds verder tot leven.

🇬🇧 Weekend.
And for us that means a little beach time with our favourite studio pupper, Nelson.

He absolutely loves going to the beach. Seeing him run around and enjoy himself makes him feel like our little puppy again instead of a 13.5 year old gentleman. Those moments are incredibly precious.

Besides that, we are planning to rest, recharge and spend some time on creative projects. A little bit of making, a little bit of relaxing, and hopefully some inspiration along the way.

En voor ons betekent dat weer even naar het strand met onze favoriete studio puppy, Nelson.

Hij geniet daar zó enorm van. Hem zien rennen en plezier zien maken zorgt ervoor dat hij weer even onze kleine pup is in plaats van een meneer van 13,5 jaar oud. Die momenten zijn ontzettend kostbaar.

Verder gaan we vooral uitrusten, opladen en natuurlijk wat tijd besteden aan creatieve projecten. Een beetje maken, een beetje ontspannen en hopelijk weer wat inspiratie opdoen.

Wat gaan jullie doen dit weekend?
