Inspired by our first edition of The Salon, a book club gathering by visual artist, Polina Barska , we thought we’d round up the most recommended English bookshops of Paris.
On October 24, in a w**e bar called La bonbonnette bar à vin Polina will be leading a salon on Yesteryear, by Caro Claire Burke
Whether you’ve finished it or not, we invite you to come and join the circle of intriguing Paris creatives during our first season of The Salon. We’ll be including 2 glasses of w**e from La Bonbonnette + charcuterie & cheese to help fuel discussions.
Seats are upon request, Pink Poodle Members get priority.

Shakespeare and Company, Paris - arguably the most popular English bookshop of Paris. It opened in 1951 as a hub for expats and was inspired by the original Shakespeare & Co shop by Sylvia Beach where famous writers like Hemingway and Fitzgerald would gather.
Librairie Galignani - on the famous Rue de Rivoli and owned by the Galignani family since the 19th century, Librairie Galignani carries books in both, English & French. It is grand, beautiful and filled with bookshop charm
The Red Wheelbarrow - located right by the Jardin du Luxembourg come to this stunning bookshop with wide windows and walls lined with books for your English poetry, classic or contemporary fiction and non-fiction reads.
Smith&Son Paris - the shop for all things British, from food to books. They have new releases and a large selection for this missing England.
The Abbey Bookshop - the charming second hand English bookshop with a wide selection of new releases. Come here for a charming little shop with narrow hallways between wall to wall shelving of books (the kind of place a fantasy novel could start in)
San Francisco Books Co. - Right by Shakespeare & co and The Abbey you’ll find San Francisco Book Co, a shop of classics and old books of the past. Worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood
