I’ve spent the last year creating and growing Pink Poodle Society as a woman with a deep passion for creatives and the kinds of spaces that inspire us.

Today is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the women in our lives and recognize their impact. In honor of that, here are 20 of the incredible women we’ve had the privilege of working with during our first year.

They are artists, entrepreneurs, creatives, and multi-talented women who make our world better through their minds, passions, and talents.

Pink Poodle Society would not be where it is today without them, and for that I’m endlessly grateful.

Xo,
Monica

Polina Barska is a Ukrainian-born visual artist based in Paris. Her work first caught our eye through her expressive portraits, drawn across different paper textures that sometimes incorporate materials that bring a tactile depth to each piece.

For Polina, art has always been a part of life; through sketching, drawing, and painting-a practice rooted in exploration and intuition.

Next week, she’ll host an intimate artist dinner around the theme: “There’s no wrong way to make art.”

Together, we’ll gather for a 3-course dinner at Pulitzer Paris to reflect on creativity, process, and the unexpected ways art shows up in our lives.

Join us on March 13 and discover something about your relationship with art that you didn’t know existed.

Spaces are limited to keep the experience intimate.

What actually happens at an Art Dinner?

This Saturday at a hidden spot inside The Hoxton Lloyd, the evening unfolds across five courses inspired by five forms of love.

At the start of each course, one group chooses an artwork from an art menu.
The piece is revealed to the room and then taken away again.

Only after dinner do you enter the secret exhibition, where the full collection is finally open to explore.

A dinner that turns into an exhibition.
An exhibition that won’t be seen again.

You and the people seated closest to you choose which artworks are delivered to your table. The decision is final.

Art appears between courses.
After dinner, a private exhibition is revealed.

One of the biggest questions we get is: “Why the name Pink Poodle?”

It came together from a few different things:
1. Poodles are intelligent, social dogs that thrive on interaction-very on brand for a creative community.
2. A pink poodle, of course, doesn’t exist naturally. It’s a fantastical, confident, fabulous version of the playful poodle, a symbol of who we become when we’re fulfilled, supported, and creatively alive.
3. Pink Poodle is an alliteration using a color and an animal, something that’s easy to visualize, easy to remember, and a little bit charmingly absurd.
4. And finally, we love David Shrigley’s drawing of a pink poodle next to a tennis ball. Go google it if you don’t already know it, it’s pretty funny.

Meet Yizon Chen, a Taiwanese goldsmith and designer based in Amsterdam. Yizon’s work first caught our eye for the organic shapes he captures, so precise that at times the pieces feel as if they’re moving, or not entirely solid at all.

To us, his work is more than jewelry. These are pieces made for the natural curves and movement of the human body, wearable works of art that quietly break away from the “perfect shapes” we see in everyday pieces.

If you haven’t guessed by now, we’re a fan.

And for those looking to try something new or dive into jewelry-making, Yizon teaches workshops for different levels on a regular basis at his studio, .
