Club Pera is een serie club avonden in Paradiso waar muziek, dans en audiovisuele kunst met een link met het oude en nieuwe Istanbul centraal staan.

Club Pera is een serie clubavonden en concerten in Paradiso waarbij artiesten uit Istanbul, Berlijn, Amsterdam en andere toonaangevende internationale steden, waar een link bestaat met de oude en nieuwe muzikale tradities van Istanbul centraal staan. Naast hedendaagse electronische club- en popmuziek en actuele vertalingen van traditionele muziek en dans uit Istanbul, richt Club Pera zich ook op

performance- en mediakunst. Istanbul als stad tussen Oost en West, tussen Balkan en Midden Oosten, tussen Oud en Nieuw en tussen modern en traditioneel vormt voor Pera de inspiratiebron voor programma's waarin ontmoeting en vernieuwing centraal staan en waarin de focus op muziek en dans uit een groter geografische regio wordt gelegd. Constantinopel en Istanbul 2 namen voor 1 stad met een diverse bevolking en eeuwenoude muzikale traditie. De naam Pera is de oude Griekse naam van het stadsdeel Taksim/Beyoglu in Istanbul, van oudsher de culturele meltingpot van De Stad. Hier vestigden zich in de 18e eeuw al de eerste cafe's restaurants, galeries etc en kwamen de Oosterse en Westerse cultuur samen. Club Pera verbindt uitgaan, muziek en de danswereld van het oude en het nieuwe Istanbul met Amsterdam anno nu. Club Pera Programma's tot nu toe

Club Pera promotes and stimulate artists and artistic (co)productions from Istanbul and it's historical and contemporary links with other international cities, with a focus on contemporary and pop music and dance with DJ's, bands, solo musicians, performance and media art.

Het Aşk ile! Benefietfestival brengt inspirerende sprekers, kunstenaars en musici samen voor een dag vol verbinding, met speciale aandacht voor de Alevitische cultuur en muziek. Het festival herdenkt en eert de kunstenaars en intellectuelen die op 2 juli 1993 omkwamen bij de brandstichting in het Madımak Hotel in Sivas, Turkije.

Het programma omvat een middag met verschillende workshops en talks onder leiding van Chris Keulemans, Sinan Can en Özkan Gölpınar. In de avond zijn er optredens van onder andere Meral Polat, Ten Hut & Burak, Oh Voyage, Ferhat Kaplan en DJ İpek İpekçioğlu.

Op 2 juli 1993 werd tijdens het Pir Sultan Abdal Festival in Sivas een hotel in brand gestoken door een groep fundamentalisten. Onder de slachtoffers bevonden zich bezoekers, musici, kunstenaars, dichters en intellectuelen. Deze tragedie heeft diepe sporen nagelaten, zowel binnen als buiten de Alevitische gemeenschap.

Het Alevitisme, een verlichte, religieus-humanistische stroming in Turkije, is ook in Nederland een van de grootste religieuze groepen onder inwoners met roots in Turkije. Het festival Aşk ile!, wat ‘Met liefde’ betekent, brengt een ode aan de slachtoffers en viert de veerkracht en cultuur van de Alevitische gemeenschap. Tegelijkertijd gaat het de dialoog aan met andere gemeenschappen in Nederland.

De opbrengst van het benefietfestival gaat naar de Stichting Namenmonument Sivas, die een kunstwerk in Nederland wil realiseren ter nagedachtenis aan de slachtoffers van de brand in Sivas. Het kunstwerk zal de omgekomen bezoekers, musici, schrijvers, dichters, kunstenaars en intellectuelen eren en hun werk en verhalen levend houden.

The last two acts that will be making our line-up complete for tomorrow evening are İpek İpekçioğu and CakeMosq.

Based between Berlin and Istanbul, q***r-living DJ, producer and curator, DJ İpek İpekçioğlu has an established reputation across nightlife scenes worldwide. She has performed her music at the Glastonburry, Fusion, Sziget, At.tension, Berlin Festival and many more international electronic and world music festivals. Ipek is regarded as one of the most popular DJ's of the Berlin club scene and is internationally known as Queen of Eklektik BerlinIstan. In her musical spectrum, psychedelic turkish funk meets disco, balkanfolk to minimal, Anatolian folk to deep house, kurdish halay to electro, turkish tango to break beat, bhangra to moombahton, dabke to reaggaton, albanian folk to twerk, iranian bandari to techno.

CakeMosq is the iconic drag queen of Istanbul nightlife. Famous for their programme What's Going On Around Here Bi'Bilsen on YouTube in which the performer turns different celebrities into drag queens and talks about unspoken topics with unfiltered guests about make-up, art, dance, music, fashion and life. The first Cake Mosq single "Alterego", came out in 2020 and references to 80s disco.

Jilet Sebahat has fought for q***r rights since the early 2000s and plays an active role in the q***r nightlife and q***r art scene in Istanbul. Jilet loves playing songs that open your mind, as well as serving your heart. Her dj sets range from the 1920's rebetiko to today's electronic and house music.

Only 4 days left and we can finally dance the night away during our upcoming Shugar party at the Tolhuistuin on Saturday October 14th!

Let us introduce our first performer of the night:
Born in 1980, Artist Izmir lives and performs in Istanbul. Graduated from Buca Anatolian High School, French Division, Izmir studied in the State Conservatory-Department of Opera first at Dokuz Eylul University then respectively at Mimar Sinan University and Istanbul State Conservatory. Izmir won a scholarship from Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Switzerland, and continued his undergraduate Opera studies in Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In 2003 he was awarded the Performance Award at Zurich International Theatre Festival and to top it all off, in 2007 he won the Special Jury Prize at the Siemens Opera Contest. In 2015 his debut music album came out in 2015. His first duet with Sezen Aksu "Tell the Past to Stay Silent" came out in 2018.
