Throwback to our end of the summer event at De Nijverheid. Together with Keep It Moving, we hosted adventurous improvisers, acoustic soloists, energetic rock and electronic acts… and we even had a limbo challenge!

We’re already looking forward to more events in Utrecht, but for now take a look at these beautiful shots by Jim Dermois

The magic of improvised music is in the details. Every note is a surprise and every session a new adventure. With their unique approach, personality and instrumentation, each musician crafts their own world. That ecosystem is where Space is the Place exists.

We create space for both emerging and established musicians across genres, all driven by a shared passion music in the moment.

By doing so, we support artists locally and beyond, encouraging them to cross disciplines, experiment with new collaborations, and take creative risks on stage.

If this resonates with you, check out our upcoming events or join the Friends of SITP to support our activities and get discounted tickets!

We are delighted to present the second edition of Interlinie: a compact concert tour aimed at cross-pollinating Dutch and Belgian improvisation, experimental music and jazz.

The band Old Adam on Turtle Island will perform on 5 different stages both in Belgium and The Netherlands, joined by the collective G A B B R O – initiated by Hanne De Backer - in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Ostend. During their tour they will be joined by Berlinde Deman (Eindhoven and Ghent) and Imane Guemssy (Antwerp).

It’s almost time! This Saturday night we’re embarking on an interplanetary journey with a pushing boundaries program of jazz and improvised music. Closing the night, our in-house duo of DJs: Paroah & Spooky-J join forces behind the decks for a genre-defying set. Spooky-J (of Nihiloxica) brings UK bass and footwork while Paroah weaves in trap, heavy percussions and hybrid club textures. Join us at BIMHUIS starting at 20.30!

The Space is the Place universe is always in motion: this fall we gravitate around more wonderful events in Amsterdam. We aim to stimulate the scene by giving financial, promotional and/or productional support to specific concert evenings & events.
This week we land on planet ADE, supporting a nigh of live electronic dance music: //ALIVENESS// Neon River+FEVER

On the 6th of November there’s a new event of the Orbits series, featuring Tangerine (Aviv Noam & Danielle Friedman), Spooky-J and Vera Morais/ Oscar Jan Hoogland / Lida Brouskari.

And if you really want to be one of us, this Saturday we’ll be visiting our friends Minute Made Music at BIMHUIS: a melting pot of some of the best improvisers in Amsterdam - orchestrated by the great Jan Hoogland.
